Fraud Report – Scam Using Phone Number 800-340-4278
I am a 65-year-old woman, and I would like to report a scam so that other innocent people, especially senior citizens, do not become victims.
Last Wednesday, I experienced an issue with my bank account and searched online for customer support. I found the phone number 800-340-4278 and mistakenly believed I was speaking with a legitimate support representative. The caller instructed me to go to my bank and asked me to provide my bank account number for verification. Trusting the caller, I shared the requested information.
Shortly afterward, unauthorized transactions were made from my bank account. The caller then falsely claimed that I needed to pay $999 to resolve the issue. Believing the request was legitimate, I paid the amount using my credit card.
Later, my daughter searched the phone number online and discovered that it had been reported as being associated with scam activity. That was when I realized I had been deceived by fraudsters impersonating a trusted support service.
I respectfully request that Citi Bank investigate this incident, flag any related fraudulent activity, and take appropriate action to help prevent other customers from becoming victims. I also request that this report be kept on record and shared with the appropriate fraud prevention authorities if necessary.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope my report helps protect others from similar scams.
Sincerely,
Isabella Hall
Scam Report – Fake Citi Bank/Avast Support
The person who answered instructed me to go to my bank and asked me to provide my bank account number for verification. Trusting them, I shared the information they requested. Shortly afterward, I noticed unauthorized deductions from my account. The scammer then claimed that I needed to pay $999 to resolve the issue and restore my account. Believing they were genuine representatives, I paid the amount using my credit card.
Later, I told my daughter what had happened. She searched the phone number online and discovered it had been reported as being associated with scammers. That is when I realized I had been deceived.
I respectfully request that the FCC investigate this phone number and take appropriate action to help prevent others, especially senior citizens, from becoming victims of similar scams. Thank you for your time and for your efforts to protect consumers.
Sincerely,
Ava Allen
Scam Report – Fake Citi Bank Support / Norton Impersonation
I am a 78-year-old woman, and I would like to report a scam so that others do not become victims.
Last Wednesday, I had an issue with my Citi Bank account and searched Google for a customer support number. I found 800-340-4278 and believed it was an official Citi Bank or Norton support number. When I called, the representative instructed me to go to my bank and asked for my bank account number, claiming they needed to verify my account. Trusting them, I provided the requested information.
Shortly afterward, I noticed unauthorized deductions from my account. The caller then told me I needed to pay $999 to resolve the issue and restore my account. Believing they were legitimate, I paid the amount using my credit card. Later, my daughter investigated the phone number and discovered it had been associated with scam activity and was not an official support line.
I am submitting this report to help protect other consumers, especially senior citizens, from falling victim to similar scams. I respectfully request that this phone number and the individuals responsible be investigated and appropriate action be taken.

Long story short, there was none, and if I would not have called my bank directly, someone would have run off with my social security number.
However, getting missed calls from them daily is very irritating.
They have a big enough network to employ multiple people because up to 5 different people answered the phone each time I called. Raising your voice or having any amount of attitude will bring out their true colors/faces.
