- Tucson, AZ, USA

My husband and I researched a contractor to strip and reseal our Saltillo tiles and found Catalina Floor Care. We called for a quote, and the contractor, Joseph (Jody) Ponthieux, came to our house presenting himself as a contractor legally able to take on our job. He provided us a contract with the scope of work entailed and cost. We agreed and set up a date for work to commence. Jody then contacted us and said due to extenuating circumstances he would have to charge us more, specifically stating he was trying to give us a break for being a young family. We then agreed on a new price and timeline and made a check out to Catalina Floor Care for half of the quote. This check was deposited by Jody Ponthieux. Work commenced, but as of 6 months later, work has not been completed after multiple requests to do so. At one point, Jody said he would go out of business if he didn’t receive more money to continue the project. An additional amount of over $2000 was provided with the request for a timeline of May 9th, 2023 to complete 1 room out of the whole house quoted. As of this writing, 6/29/23, not even the one room has been completed. After additional research through the AZ ROC, it was found that Joseph “Jody” Ponthieux is not a licensed contractor in the state of Arizona and is not legally able to work in the capacity he quoted and began work as, and advertises his business as. This has been reported to the AZ ROC and is being investigated as a criminal complaint. ScamPulse.com should not continue to advertise a business that is not legally allowed to operate in the state as an “accredited” business.
