Received a letter in the mail that was inside a Capital One security envelope. The letter said that I recently applied for a Capital One card but that they needed additional information. They needed a government issued ID copy. I had not recently applied so I figured this was a phishing scam. I called Capital One directly and they confirmed that application ID that the letter listed was not associated with my name and the phone listed on the letter is not a Capital One phone number. Why is this phone number still allowed to operate when others have also reported it as a phishing scam.
