- Cortland, NY, USA

Person on the phone said, I am having problems with my headset and asked if I could hear them. Then stated that I qualified for a 3-4 nights vacation with a 2 night cruise to the Bahamas. Then I hung up.

- Alpharetta, GA, USA

I pick up the phone with "Hello?", and the spammer responds with "hello." I answer "Yes who is this?", and the spammer proceeds to claim she had trouble with her phone set and continues her speech of announcing that I'm being contacted as a relevant winner of a contest. I immediately then hang up the phone.

The first question was "Can you hear me." I answered yes. He then explained I could win something - I think it was an Orlando vacation. After his next question, I said "Who is ths?" There was no answer, the caller just kept talking. I hung up then.

- Syracuse, NY, USA

Calls multiple times per day. When I answered I said to do not call here, take me off your call list. Woman said there must be something wrong with your phone. I said can you hear me now, do not call here. Then I hung up. Scammer has call two more times since then.

The person starts out by saying "my name is Joe." And this is a recorded line. Then, I understand someone in your home may have a medical condition. That is when I hang up after I ask them to not call again. I receive a call from this number a few times a week.

- Lawrenceville, GA, USA

Always Asked Can You Hear Me, then proceeded with a recording that I have won a free trip, or free cruise. Some wanting to help me reduce my credit cart debt. After saying I'm not interested I realize it's a recording and hang up.

Haven't been a victim yet, but before learning of this scam have answered ***yes*** to all the above numbers.

- Elmira, NY, USA

I have received calls from this number weekly (sometimes twice a week) for many weeks now. When I first answered, there is a man's voice- he stated that he's pre-recorded and asks, "can you hear me?" I do not respond and he goes on about new travel deals, but he never identifies if he's with a legitimate company. I never say anything and just hang up. They keep calling and I don't even answer now. The calls are getting very annoying, though, and often occur at inopportune times. I never sign up with bogus websites/provide them my contact information as I do not wish to have contact with anyone who may be conducting a scam.

Voice of a young woman claiming to be adjusting her headset and asks if I can hear her now. I fell for this the first time several months ago, but have had several new calls since.

- Watertown, WI, USA

Caller asked if I could hear him, I said yes, then he proceeded to tell me about a vacation. I hung up immediately after.

- Hamburg, NY, USA

Had a call asking if I could hear them? Said yes, then they offered a vacation at 75% off. I hung up.

I believe this is the scam where they just want you to say "yes". They then use that response to "Can you hear me?" Where you said yes, and use that audio clip as confirmation to whatever product or service they are trying to sell you.

Part of the "can you hear me" scam

- Atlanta, GA, USA

An automated call started with something like, "hi I work for customer service. Can you hear me ok?" I said yes. Then it said something about winning 4 tickets to Disney. Then I hung up. I just happened to see an article today that said that scam is getting around but that it's in Pennsylvania and Virginia. They called my land line that we have never given out yet.
