recorded voice on the other end fumbles and then asks: “Can you hear me?”

- Hull, GA, USA

Asks can you hear me after saying they are a sweepstakes company. I don't know if they took money or did a voice recording.

- Marietta, GA, USA

Tricked me into saying, yes, then "Emily" started saying, "Oh oh excuse me. I'm having trouble with my headset." I realized it was a recording when I tried to tell Emily to take me off the calling list & she just kept talking. Now I'm afraid of what do with my "yes".

I have received multiple phone calls with the same pre-recorded message..."oh sorry, I was adjusting my headset...my name is _____"

I hang up before they dive into their pitch

I received a call on my landline. The phone number 630-518-0000. Out of area. On my caller ID and TV screen. I answered the phone. A man with Chinese accent on the line. I could hear a lot of noise in the background. I'm not sure what it was. He said Hello Hello, I said yes. He said can you hear me. I immediately hung the phone up. I have seen this scam on television. I wanted to report the call.

Caller started talking, then asked if I could hear him. I responded yes and he continued talking even though I was trying to interrupt him. I realized it was a recording. I am working nights and was sleeping, so I called the number back which was my local area code to tell them not to call anymore. I received a recording and was asked to press 9 to be removed from the call list, which I did. Then I read online that this was a common scam.
