- Omaha, NE, USA

Answered phone was asked if I could hear them, I said yes. I was immediately told I would be staying at such and such resort.

I answered a call claiming to be Customer service. He introduced himself and asked if I could hear him clearly. I was expecting a return call from a customer service. I answered yes before I remembered a warning about this exact type of scam and immediately disconnected.

If this was a scam, what can I expect and what can I do to protect myself?

The suspicious phone number is 404-692-7716.

This was one of those "Can you hear me?" calls. I just hung up. They said they were with a Home Warranty. Then they asked me, "Can you hear me?" They want you to say yes and then they'll get you.

The say yes scam. When my husband answered the call, the caller said "Ray" without thinking, my husband replied, yes. At this point the caller hung up. We called the telephone number back and got the message that the number was no longer in service.

- Atlanta, GA, USA

I picked up the phone and said hello, after which a lady said "Hello...I am sorry, I didn't have my headset on (which made it seem like a real person was on the line)...Can you hear me", to which I responded "Yes". Then she started talking about how we stayed at a resort with their company and that she had discounts for a cruise from Orlando, Florida. This was probably a recorded voice because I said "I am sorry, you must have a wrong number" but the voice kept talking.

Called and kept asking if I was me and kept recalling

- Lawrenceville, GA, USA

Received call from female calling from cruise line, asked can you hear me. I said yes because I was distracted and then realized it's a scam and hung up.

Answered the call and was asked if I was over 18 yrs. old and I said "yes". Of course they asked the question "can you hear me?".Then I was told I was eligible for a stay in a resort hotel in Orlando. Then I was asked if I had a major credit or debit card to be able to check in. I said no,then they hung up . I then called my BBB to report it.

Received a phone call from an unrecognized number and when I answered, the person said "Hi this is Josh...can you hear me?" I immediately hung up.

- Eatonton, GA, USA

Called wanting to know if I could hear me now

- Brunswick, OH, USA

Caller asks "Can you hear me?". Apparently if you say "yes" (which I did) they can use your recorded voice to authorize a big purchase.

- Lewis Center, OH, USA

CAll said they were from customer service and I was half asleep and answered "yes" when asked "can you hear me."

I then remembered hearing about the scam on TV and hung up.

- Augusta, GA, USA

Female voice on the other end, apologetically fumbles with phone or headset, informs me that I won a vacation to Orlando, Florida. She did not tell me which company she was calling from. I hung up half way through her speech. The only word that came out of my mouth was "Hello?" (that I can remember).

- Mcdonough, GA, USA

Friendly "Josh" called from a local number and immediately asked if I could hear him OK, and I, caught off guard, answered "Yes". He described a free vacation but didn't identify the company or allow me to interrupt for question or comment; he was loudly talking over me. He clearly was trying to keep me on the phone while he read his entire script. I hung up before he got to the money part. I'm reporting this phone number because I heard about the trick to record your voice saying, "Yes".

- Cudahy, WI, USA

Can you hear me and then hung up

- Canton, GA, USA

Recorded call that starts by stating the your warranty is expiring. The recording does not state what company the call is coming from. The recording then asks if you can hear them. I hung up and called the number back which goes straight to a recording that asks if you want to be removed from their call list.

- Perry, GA, USA

Caller quickly identified himself as a "Health Representative" and then asked, "Can you hear me?"

Scammers are getting "yes" responses to that question, and editing it to be used later as an authorization for

a major purchase, etc...

Thia was a classic attempt to do that.. I simply hung up the phone..

- Cumming, GA, USA

Scam related to Clark Howard warning.... Recorded line to get you to say the word "YES"
