Apple Support Reports & Reviews – Page 2 (89)

I was trying to use Apple Pay on my iPhone 11. I couldn't, so I googled a phone number for Apple Pay. I called 844-350-0150. I talked to Ethan with an accent. He asked me to call him at 315-332-1785. He told me to buy two Walmart gift cards at Walmart at Scioto Point for $100 each. Then he asked for the code. I didn't know what a code was so I went back in and the clerk helped me. I gave him the code and sent him a picture of it. Then he told me it wasn't enough money to block my credit card access. He asked for $500 more. I went back to the same Walmart, and bought a $500 Google Play card. I couldn't find the Google Playcards, so the clerk helped me, and let me buy the card. She didn't warn me about the cards. I charged both to my American Express. Then he attempted to withdraw $2100 from my debit card. Huntington Bank put a hold on my account. I went in and the teller helped me close that account, and open a new card. He told me to report it to BBB. I called American Express.

I got a call from a local number , he identified himself as John from Apple Support. Telling me that I had been a victim of malicious activity on my account. He said that he needed to go through my phone to access my accounts that had been breached. He asked what banking I used Chase, he wanted my institutions that I used. Told me to create an account Bittrex then I had to identify myself with my DL & photo. Then a cash app to make sure no money was being taken. I didn’t have that, I kept asking if this was real & he assured me that he was legit. After doing all that I was completely wiped out of my money. I got a call from my bank telling me I had been scammed. I was not even sure that call was real. After that I canceled my debit cards, froze my accounts. Contacted Apple made a report, made a report with FTC, Sheriffs Dept, my insurance company, identity fraud, Hwy Patrol,

I received 8 separate automated phone calls from different numbers in the 408 area code from Apple Support claiming there had been suspicious activity on my iPod account and that it had been breached. Twice I spoke with an actual person and told them to remove me from their call list but, the calls continue. I don't know what it is they are after but the calls have continued every 8 minutes or so, each time from a new number so I can't even block it.

I don't know what you can do. I wanted to bring it to somebody's attention.

"Apple Support" keeps calling my grandfather. The man has an Indian accent, he says his name is Brad Hill, he says my grandfather downloaded something. He asked for account numbers. He's also left several messages asking me to call 669-699-7972.

Received multiple (9) calls from a 408 area code, likely a call center. The automated voicemail claimed to be from Apple Support to inform me that my Apple account had been hacked. To reset my information, each voicemail instructed me to call 208-262-0000. A quick Google search told me that Apple Support will not call you if your account is hacked - they will email you. Don't call this number back! They will likely try to steal your personal information.

Called saying they were from apple support and my account had some suspicious activity. I let them know i dont have any apple products and they said it meant someone had used my information to open something. I said okay thank you, ill look into it and hung up, but they have called 10 times this morning.

This has now happened to me two weeks in a row. In the late afternoon to evenings, I will receive multiple calls from various separate numbers (last week they came from Washington State/Seattle area, this week from Silicon Valley/California) stating that an Apple device had been compromised, and I needed to call back to the support number right away.

I did answer one of the calls just to see where it went last week--it had an official sounding recording, with a menu to talk to a tech support person. I pressed 1, and was directed to someone with heavily accented English, who sounded as if they were calling from a crowded call center. It did *not* sound like what you normally get when you call Apple support. The person told me that my IP address had been compromised by a hacker, and that they need me to log on to my device. I asked them which device. They repeated that my IP address had been violated. I said "yes, but which one, a phone, a computer, an iPad, which device?" And they said computer, and asked me to boot it up. I told them that this sounded odd to me, and i asked if there was a way I could verify that they were indeed with Apple. He said James Lee and then had me search in the service support bar for "James Lee", which did come up with some old support topics, and he told me to write down the CVE 2019-8570 code. I did, but then I just didn't feel comfortable proceeding. This didn't seem to me like a correct way to verify that this was apple support---any smart hacker or scammer could have easily made up that they were James Lee and they had this code. I told him that I did not feel comfortable proceeding and that I was hanging up. I did not receive any emails from Apple Support informing me of any breach, which is usually what happens if a new device signs on somewhere, etc.

Last week (08/12/20), the calls I received were happening every 15 minutes, with the same Robocall voicemail, between the hours of 5pm and 9pm. Today (08/18/20), they began at 4pm CDT and have been occurring every 5 to 10 minutes. I have not answered any of them.

Please take these scammers down so I can get some peace! I try blocking their numbers, but they call from different numbers every time.

I called Apple & reported the calls they couldn’t do anything & said those numbers are definitely not them. I reported multiple ones on this claim not all are from Canada. Some are Dallas Texas, Stinson Beach, CA, Fort Lauderdale, FL, & 877 numbers with no location. Please, please help with this issue my phone rings all hours of day & most of my calls are scams. This email contained a receipt of an app I did not purchase. It did say click on a link to cancel the purchase within 24 hours of receiving the notice. I did but then the link went dead. I would never have offered up credit card information and I usually don't click on any links but like an [censored], I did this one. I don't know if it put anything on my machine.

I received an email saying that I had purchased a battlegrounds Games for iphone7s charging me $11.36. Sending to Olathe,Kansas. There wasn’t a phone number to call just get help with subscriptions and purchased Visit Apple Support or to cancel my purchase within 24 hours of receiving the invoice. I found a phone number on the site 1-855-948-3538 I was asked for the all of the card number also my ssn and a picture of my drivers licenses and he told me to downloaded the quick support app. He then had me to except the broadcast recorder so he could assess my phone. I was also asked to open my cash app and try to send money but t was declined. I still didn’t realize what I was doing until after he asked me to go to a Walgreens or Walmart and buy a eBay card put $200 on it and send it to him and he’ll cancel all the transaction and I wouldn’t be done again.. I then told him I’ll call my bank and cancel my card. I feel so stupid I just wasn’t thinking about what I was doing I was just trying to cancel or stop payment o a purchase.

11:42AM MLK Jr. Day Automated call from Apple regarding the security of my iCloud account: An Indian answered. I asked for him to prove he was from Apple Support. He directed me to Apple.com and told me to compare the number showing on my phone with the number there. He asked for my email address so he could send a confirmation email with the Apple logo and code. The email address on the printout did not show an Apple.com email address. There was background noise of a call center. He had me download Team Viewer so he could look at my computer. He opened the Terminal and typed in a program. The results of the program was a long list of foreign IP addresses with a connection to my computer. The results were high in scare tactics and mentioned SpyEye. He opened Amazon and Target and talked about how a $100 Xbox card had higher security and told me to buy it but that no money would come out of my account. This was to secure my email accounts. He went to a website with a USA logo with an eagle’s head and brought up an FBI pic of a hacker named Nicolai. He got my IP address and copied and pasted it into a text document and asked for the number on my modem. He asked me what was connected to my WiFi and recorded those as devices that need to be secured. He said that I was experiencing an IP address network hacking issue. The man said they weren’t authorized to talk with him and that anything I said out loud could be heard by the Russian hacker, but my husband threatened to call the police. My husband asked if changing the IP address would fix everything, and the man said the underlying static address wouldn’t change, which my husband knew was false. My husband said that we should call Comcast. He told us to go to the nearest Safeway to buy a Target card. We got in the car and were away from my apartment for about 20 minutes with Team Viewer still open. My husband parked the car and called the number on my caller ID, which went Apple’s accessibility TTY phone line.

I received an email from "Apple Support" with the title "Apple ID Locked." The text of the email was written in correct English and asked me to click a link to verify my identity. I opened the email on my iPhone before the preview had downloaded. Once I clicked the link it opened a page in Safari and started redirecting me like crazy. I realized it was a scam then and closed the page. When I went back to the email and viewed the sender's address and the preview, it was definitely not Apple.
