I was approached via email regarding a Software Engineering position by Company Yarids Shoes & Accessories. While the Company is a legitimate business and is experiencing scam attempts as well; the persons contacting me have been identified as scammers. The sent me over a screening assessment which they quickly sent a follow up email informing me of the onboarding hiring process. Part of which, detailed the office equipment they needed to mail to me for my "new remote position". The office equipment included expensive things like MacBook, Speakers, and other computer peripherals that were not needed to perform the job. They sent fraudulent checks to me to have direct deposited. They then asked me to send them back money in the amounts that were originally posted on said checks. Ignorantly on my end, I went ahead and sent them money through various methods such as CashApp online payment, Zelle Banking, and Wire Transfers. The amount in question is well over $9,800 to which they successfully got out from me. The Zelle payments and Wire Transfers are being resolved by my bank, though unfortunately I lost $1000 due to a transaction through CashApp payment. I contacted their support team and they offered no assistance in retrieving my funds that I have sent. I'm writing to you in hopes of preventing future attempts of scamming through these means. It's very unfortunate how many of the working class such as myself are desperate for a job during this time, as I was also a victim of being laid off during the tech recession. thank you for taking the time to read this submission, I very much appreciate the services provided by the Better Business Bureau and look forward to hearing some type of response.
