So I resent him an invoice and he overpaid it by $30,000. He called me asking if I would pay his vendor for him since he was out of the country and couldn't pay them (This raised a red flag for me since he was able to pay me). I immediately said no way, I am not in business to remit payment for my clients, I will send you the money back. (THIS IS WHERE MY ERROR CAME IN!!)
I sent him the $30,000 back, but not through QuickBooks Payment, I sent it using my payment system through my Relay Bank Account. It was a one day ACH payment.
7 days later I received an email from QuickBooks online that the $33,805.00 payment he sent through the last time was disputed because it was not otherized by the owner of the account. So now I owed QuickBooks this $33,805.00 because the funds were not in my bank to pull.
FYI, he also paid us $30,000.00 over and yes we made the mistake of doing 2 wire transfers to a chase bank account. We are located in Texas and got the lead through bark.
