Having problems with my computer and have subscription with Webroot. I searched for Webroot tech support through google and it unfortunately brought up a clever imposter website for Webroot with same logo. I called the tech support number and they ran a remote scan indicating my IP address was hacked. Also stated I had a RUNDLL32 problem and a "foreign user" who was hacked in and even established their own password. The fake rep offered 1 year protection, tech support and software for "Network Firewall with Anti Hacking Security for $399.99 or lifetime of same with antivirus for $599.99, further claiming I would no longer be billed for my existing Webroot as it's lifetime coverage would be included in price. The live remote activity on my PC showed the user accessing website for a few free anti virals running them and then uninstalling after. The red flags really kicked in when I happened to check the screen and see my email account open and the remote user was sending an email. It was a quick cut and paste so I didn't see it until after I regained access to my computer.

It was emailed authorization of charge and acceptance of completed work --PASTED BELOW:

I have verified that my computer is fully Functional after the services were rendered and before authorizing the Payment. I agree that I will pay for this purchase in accordance with issuing bank cardholder agreement. All the services are rendered before payment is accepted.

I am aware of the fact that If in case I experiences a problem with the very same Merchandise/Services that was provided to me on this day then I would have to either email or call on Toll free 1-888-501-7748 between 09Am-06Pm PST within 5 Days to raise a ticket for any problem on the Computer or any problem with the Billing...."

. No protection anti hacking software was ever received and no changes occurred to my Webroot account. to the charge of 649.99 (599 +tax)
