VirTour Media Employment on LinkedIn Email Phishing and Fake Check Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

- Plano, TX, USA

Applied for a job on LinkedIn for a Data Scientist (Remote). Got an email with the questions (very generic and not technology/ role related) to which I have replied. I received the following email a few days later from William Cicero, I got suspicious and found that the email ID is a small variated version of a company in CA. I was not comfortable giving my personal info and replied back to the email asking for some job related questions which were never answered.

The Hiring Board has reviewed your submitted Screening test/Interview Answers and given feedback.

I am glad to inform you that due to your level of experience and your working skills, the company has decided to hire you as one of our Data Scientists (REMOTE). On behalf of our firm, I congratulate you on your achievement as you are now offered an opportunity to be part of the VirTour Media Team.

We believe that your knowledge, skills, and experience would be an ideal fit for our Data team and will definitely make a significant contribution to the overall success of the Company.

This is strictly an online remote (work from home) job with flexible working hours which means you can choose to work from home

You will receive your duties every day via email and I will be online to walk you through your tasks. You will be undergoing 2 days online training, via Skype, immediately after setting up your Home office.

We are starting you with $60 per hour and you can receive your pay via direct deposit, or check, depending on which you prefer. Benefits include Health and Dental Insurance, Employee Wellness and Paid Time Off.

We are going to be communicating virtually until after 2 days of your training period with us, subsequently, a user and password will be given to you including an uplink to the company server, and a list of contact phone numbers to various departments will be sent to you including all necessary forms to fill out.

Before you start work, you will receive a payment(check) which will be used to set up your Home-office for purchasing the office equipment and software needed to start your training and work from our registered vendor.

Right now, you will be receiving your Employment Offer Letter from HR via email to sign today. Our aim is for you to start training as soon as possible.

You are to immediately forward the following information to enable the HR secretary to register you and send your offer letter and also write out the check payment for your Home-office.
