I, too, got a message from a Mr. Michael Milne who conducted the interview through emails and I was approved for the job. Signing bonus of $200.00, $35.00 (U.S.) per hour for data entry from home. They sent me a cheque for $1950.00 saying I needed to deposit it immediately by mobile banking app only. I went to my bank immediately and they confirmed my suspicion that this was a scam. What is very perplexing is that the real Unipart does not seem to be concerned that someone is using their name to scam people.

The number was from a 773 area code, which is from Chicago proper (I live in the South Suburbs, just for reference). It came from a guy named David, and he told me to go on Google Hangouts and talk to a person named Faith Mercer. He gave her contact information and said that she was waiting for, and wished me luck.

Now, I have sent what seems like dozens of applications on Indeed, Career Builder, Zip Recruiter, and Monster, so I thought that I might have applied with Unipart and forgot about it. I looked them up, and they seemed legit. They were based in Oxford, England, so I thought it would be odd to be doing an interview in the late afternoon/early evening (their time) on a Saturday (I thought they would be at the pub after watching the football.). Anyway...

I ran with the Google Hangouts interview, just to see what would happen. She asked me a few questions about what I did, if I had a job, what kind of position I was looking for, some standard questions for an interview. She said that she talked to the board of directors (strange that she would be able to talk to them on a Saturday afternoon), and said that I was hired. She told me how much I would be paid, and that included a $200 signing bonus (not unusual for some jobs to have a signing bonus) and sent me some papers to sign (letter of acceptance and contract). She also told me that I would be issued a Mac Book Pro and an iPhone 12, and that I needed to send payment for a timekeeper software. That is when I blocked her.

David called me, not pleased that I had blocked Faith. He swore up and down that it wasn't a scam. I told him that I knew one when I saw it, and hung up and blocked him.

I, too received a text out of the blue from Calvin. Being very leery, I sent this text message:
Contacting me by text is not appropriate especially when there are scammers using this method. I do not recall applying for a position with this company.

No reply back. Must have been right. How do we notify the real company and inform them of this scam?

Just received text this morning from UNIPART GROUP OF COMPANIES, 956-297-0061. Did not recall ever applying for position at that company so I immediately researched. Five items come up that look like it could be something and then this site. Thank goodness. I was going to respond to text asking where they obtained my info but decided it wasn't worth my time. I've received similar texts before usually within 24 hours of me applying for jobs on Indeed.

So I got the same text message from 205-895-6480 and before I even replied, I came online to research the unknown number (as I always do) and I came across this thread of complaints. Which is wonderful because now I know to mess with them instead of take them seriously. Here is how it went :

• Them: Good Morning i believe this is (my personal name on my resume)?

• Them: *Same text sent a second time*

• Me: I kindly apologize for the confusion. This is Sheriff Calvin O'Hare with Fort Lauderdale PD. This is a text-only emergency assistance line. Do you need help immediately? We will dispatch an officer immediately. May I ask for your full name and address?

*i totally made all of that up lol*
Hilarious!
Anyway, I never even got a response haha!

I received a text from someone named Mr. Calvin Henderson from Unipart Group of Companies. The text came from +1 (205) 895-6480.

"Good Day. I believe this is (my name)."

I responded yes and asked who was I speaking to.

"I am Mr. Calvin Henderson from UNIPART GROUP OF COMPANIES. Your resume posted online has been reviewed and approved by the HR department. We are impressed by your background and would like to invite you for the job briefing and interview. Kindly reply back with "YES" if interested."

I responded by asking if more information could be provided other than the name of the company.

"This is an online work from the comfort of home position whereby all duties are done remotely from home pay rate is $35/hr. You will also be paid $15/hr during the training session and this is for the position of Customer Service Representative. I believe you have no issues working from home with this firm for the main time?"

I responded by saying I am interested in working from home but would like to know why are we texting instead of talking.

"Great! The job briefing and interview will be conducted online. Do you have Telegram Messenger?"

I told them no and it seems odd to have an interview through telegram messenger. So proceeded to ask if they could email me the job description and responsibilities as well as the location of their company.

They stopped texting and I have not heard from them anymore.

I had the same exact experience. I did the interview via Telegram and was offered the position within 15 minutes. Then I was sent an email from a personal address containing agreements I had to sign and a W4. Cant believe I was fooled. Thankfully I didn't email my paperwork.

I received a text message: “Good Morning i believe this is (my name).” After confirming and asking who I was messaging with, they responded: “I am Mr Alan Michael from UNIPART GROUP OF COMPANIES ...Your resume which was posted online has been successfully reviewed and approved by the HR department. We are impressed by your background and would like to invite you for the job briefing and interview... Kindly reply back with "YES" if interested.” I responded and they responded: “This is an online work from the comfort of home position whereby all duties are done remotely from home pay rate is $30/hr, you will also be paid $15/hr during the training session, and this is for the position of Administrative Assistant . I believe you have no issues working from home with this firm for the main time? Then as they are sending more messages on states that they will conduct the interview through Telegram messenger so that an red flag there then they send another message saying the interview is via instant messaging . And I'm like never have i ever heard of an interview being via instant messaging . So I text the number back asking what city and state the company is located and they stopped responding. So I came on here and search them and saw that two others has the same issue.

I received an email from Joan Rodrigues, saying my resume was approved by a recruitment team and they would like to set up an online interview, through Google Hangout. I did not respond to the email; however, the next morning, I received a text message:

“Good Morning i believe this is (my name).”

After confirming and asking who I was messaging with, they responded:

“I am Mr Alan Michael from UNIPART GROUP OF COMPANIES ...Your resume which was posted online has been successfully reviewed and approved by the HR department. We are impressed by your background and would like to invite you for the job briefing and interview... Kindly reply back with "YES" if interested.”

I responded by asking them to please email me the job posting and they responded:

“This is an online work from the comfort of home position whereby all duties are done remotely from home pay rate is $30/hr, you will also be paid $15/hr during the training session, and this is for the position of Administrative Assistant .

I believe you have no issues working from home with this firm for the main time?“

I responded by, again, asking them to email me the job posting and information about the company, and I didn’t get a response.
