Tree Removal Scam

Identical story as above in VB. He came door to door in the neighborhood handing out flyers, and seemed like a nice enough guy at first so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He gives an itemized receipt and started work that same day. Cut down trees, tilled part of the lawn, left to "get more materials/equipment". He asked for deposit and a bit more to cover equipment rentals and dumping fee. Thinking he may just need help starting up his business I gave it to him. But then he kept making up b.s. stories for money, and making ridiculous lies about why they cannot come back to work. Been almost a month since that first day and they never returned once, but he'd been saying they were by the house, cameras showed they were not. All the trees and yard debris left in my yard as well.

"Company" name was AMG Tree & Lawn, imitating another well known companies name in order for people to see the other companies reviews. Guy went by Adrien/Ace, but a quick lookup on him found that's not his real name.

I hired this company to remove 4 trees, cut into firewood & grind the stomp, I made the deposit & he showed up. He cut down the trees, left without telling me & never showed back up. I have tried for 4 months to get the work completed or to refund my money. He gives a date & doesn't show, only gives excuses & a promise of a new work date.

He said he is licensed & insured.

This person came and agreed to take down a tree and get rid of the logs. He then requested more money for a dumping fee because the city would not pick up the logs for free. The person then requested more money each day of work saying it was not enough to cover the dumping fees. Each additional day he came to do work he demanded more money than the initial contract. All trees are left in my yard and it’s a gigantic mess.
