A link was sent to my phone number with a link from toll company in Florida. Clicked on link and paid via PayPal. Never received email confirmation so was suspicious. Reported to PayPal and my bank. Check my PayPal and an email not to toll company was listed.

I got a text from this number and it said, " Our recordds indicate that you have an online payment at https://invoicesunpasstolls.com to avoid excessive late fees, then when you click on the site, it asked for your phone number and social security number. The site looks legit and I made a trip to the beach in florida last year and I paid the till fee but I was second guessing myself, but when it asked for my social security number it I knew it was a scam and not to mention, I went to their website to see how you are contacted if you owe money because usually its by mail. It did state you would receive a invoice by mail.

My wife recently traveled to Florida so I thought it was legit. But it asked for my SSN which I did supply before I started investigating. I mean hell, anyone can type random numbers and get a social but I noticed the menu bars weren’t working and it didn’t show me an invoice, that’s when I became suspicious.

It sends a single text to you and itself. That added credibility because my iPad filled in my name from my phone number. I assumed they knew my name. Sunpass operates in Florida, and I was recently in Florida, so a missed toll was plausible. The website pretends to be Sunpass. There was a Captcha which also adds credibility. It wants my phone number and social security number to locate my unpaid invoice. Now I become suspicious and don’t enter any information. Research tells me I was right to be wary. I don’t know the total danger. Identity theft? Financial fraud? What did I escape?

Text message "Sunpass: Our records indicate that you have an unpaid toll trip. Please make an online payment at https://invoicesunpasstoll.com to avoid excessive late fees". I took a recent trip to Florida and am unfamiliar with tolls and billing processes. I clicked the link, the site prompted me for name, address, phone, SS#, Credit Card# and billing address. After submitting the information, the site said the notification was made in error and that I have no unpaid tolls.

I was texted by (431)778-7846 about a SunPass unpaid toll trip. It prompted me to go https://invoicesunpasstoll.com to pay $4.51 for an invoice. However, it prompted me for my social security number and telephone number to search for the alleged invoice. When it found the alleged invoice, it requested my email address. It then prompted me to a different screen asking for my other personal information which I was no longer putting in. I then realized that if I backed out and refreshed, the invoice number continually changed.

Said if I did not pay the toll invoice today, the charge would increase to $76. Then it said they found the error and my card would not be charged.
