I needed to apply for a passport for the first time so I googled something similar to "passport application online". This website came up looking extremely similar to a government website and since I have never filed for a passport I did not realize it was NOT the correct website. The website was set up almost identically to the government website for a passport application. I filled out all the information and thought I was paying for my passport and after downloading the prefilled out application I would have to take it to the passport facility (post office).

My husband later did his passport application separately, but on a government website. This was the only reason I realized that I had done anything wrong. He didn't have to pay for anything until he took his application in. Now I'm deeply concerned about the personal information this company has of mine. To be honest, I'm not even sure of the actual company name. The email they sent after was USAPassportonline.org but the charge on my credit card came through as passport-assist.com
