Stüssy Modeling Gig Scam

I got an email from [email protected] offering a paid modeling opportunity. The total compensation he told me was 1,500 and he was paying half up front to secure my booking.

He gave me extra money to give to those that supposedly owned the train station so we could rent the space.

So with the charge in addition to the first half of payment, he gave me a check for $3,750.31 and wanted me to deposit it immediately. Even asked me to CONFIRM that I will BE AVAILABLE to cash it today.

After I foolishly cashed it and told him, I asked if I could call whoever he contacted to rent a portion of the station for the shoot. He refused to give me the name and number. I even asked for information on the crew that was supposedly going to meet me and work with me. He refused to give me an answer again. This was the last straw. It is customary if not safety protocol to let your model know who is going to be working with them. It is also important to at least start a relationship with the crew before meeting them.

The scammer has committed identity, theft, calling himself for Ralph Diaz. Ralph Diaz was formally an employee at the clothing company Stussy but has retired. The scammer emailed me, who is a Photographer, about coordinating to do a photo shoot with the brand Stussy after weeks of emailing back-and-forth providing detailed information about the photo shoot, the scammer sent me a check for more than the initial price that was stated. The check was issued two years ago, had the wrong business name on it, and he was asking for an immediate deposit.
