I was approved for an apartment that was listed on StreetEasy. The person I was communicating with emailed me saying that if I paid a $1,950 down payment, I would be able to view the apartment the next day and it would be secured for me. On the day of the scheduled tour, she asked for an additional $1,950. When I refused to pay more, she said I would not be allowed to see the apartment.

When I requested a refund, I was told they would send me a check. Later, I received a phone call saying they had made a mistake and sent me $19,500 instead.
