I work for Serving Alcohol and the security question information is a requirement by the state. This is to verify that the person taking the course is in fact that person. Unfortunately, we do not have control over the questions. We take the protection of personal information very seriously. If you have any concerns we ask that you reach out to us.

Type of a scam Phishing

Signed up for this course to get a certificate to allow me to sell alcohol at a bar. Content of the course was solid but at the very beginning of the course they require you to answer "Security Questions" because "These answers will be used later during the course". The security questions consisted of common questions for account recovery i.e. mothers maiden name, place of birth, etc.. At no point were these questions relevant within the course whatsoever. Definitely seems like an attempt to farm personal data in order to make an attempt to hack into other user accounts.

Both the state of Michigan and Pennsylvania require us to have security questions before taking the final exam. We would prefer not to ask them. But our courses for those particular states would not be approved by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) or the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) without them. We NEVER sell or pass along our information to anyone besides the liquor control boards if they require it.
