Type of a scam Tech Support

Received new roku device. Tried to set up on tv but was told their was a problem code 0014. Gave number to call. Called and was told roku needed $***.to set up new device. Said I was locked out of my roku account.. After arguing finally told them I was reporting the call. Called customer service and they said was a scam and fixed the problem

I was setting up a Roku account, I did not want to put credit card information in. I could not find a phone number on any of the paper work so I googled customer service phone number for Roku and this number came up 1888-219-5333 they answered Roku.I explained what happened

and I asked if it was necessary to put that info in to open an account. They were very nice and reassuring, I was told to buy an iTune gift card, give the the number and after it cleared they would credit the card I used for a full replacement of the funds. I went on for the purchase of several credit cards. They also list this number according to the BBB as help with facebook.
