I was trying to rent a home I was referred to the scammer by this one woman on Facebook to text her boss and when I started to consult with him I texted her and asked about him and she told me she stop working for him a month ago (around the time I texted her about the home) and when I finally paid my deposit and he was supposed to meet me with the keys and never did and when I said something to her it over from that.

I found a Zillow listing and I reached out to them. We viewed the property and then paid a security deposit. After that I saw it was listed somewhere else and followed up. Turns out it was a scam. They didn’t respond once I found out it was a scam.

I gave this woman named Samantha Jean $612 as a down payment to rent a room in her house. Then I paid her another $612 the next month, so that’s $1,224 total. But now, she doesn’t want to let me stay in the house anymore, and she’s refusing to give me my money back.

I feel like that’s really unfair. I paid her to stay there, and now she’s keeping the money for nothing. I didn’t even get to stay in the place I paid for.

This rental company advertised one house’s photos under another property’s address. They told us we couldn’t tour the property until we submitted an application for a background check which cost $50 per person. After driving to the property, I found the house in the Zillow photos, but the property specialist said it was the house down the street. The house down the street was the address listed on Zillow but was not the house in the pictures. They refunded our application fees but have not changed their listing on Zillow and are still trying to bait and switch people and scam them into paying for a background screening before being able to tour.

Emily told me she had rental properties that are discounted as she has relationships with the owner. I tried to call her and the number could not be connected. She told me she was on a Caribbean Cruise and her phone was not working. She sent me a phony contract with no address or name of owner on it. She told me to send money to a bank account that she said was the owner’s Viktor Zima. I did not . I did contact the agent who was representing the owner listed as a host in vRBO # 617040. She told me it was a scam.

Trying to rent a house in Shepherdsville ky they asked for an initial fee of $850 then fees were added which brought it to about $1500 and all this time we weren't allowed to gain access to the house. Then they wanted more money for another months since we didn't get access to the house because the realtor said the owner wanted it. Then we had to pay a delivery fee to get the paperwork and keys . And of course the delivery person crashed and now they want us to pay for a second delivery person. I know im a fool ,but me and my wife are having to live in 2 separate locations and we were desperate

I found multiple listings through the realtor app and contacted them through the app form. This person responded to all of the contacts, and essentially tried to rent me a house that they did not own. When I did a property record search and confronted them that they did not own it, they did not respond. A day later they tried to rent me a separate house using the same phone number. At that point I knew it was a scam and when I googled their identifiable information namely the email [email protected], I found that other people had gone through this as well. This person uses the name Michael Muñiz, and will tell you that they have a job that they are moving to in Florida with their wife Glenn. It appears they target homes that are owned by large corporations such as invitation homes. They will tell you one rental price and then a separate price if you want to rent to own. When I set up a time to view the property, they told me there was an issue with the Smart Lock and that I would need to come back the next day. There is no doubt in my mind that this person is a scammer, and if you Google that email address you will see years of them trying to scam people.

This is a report of a fraudulent management company that rents out an apartment. The company charged me a 1000.00 move in fee and the apartment was filthy, has no back door lock, there was no lock on the main door to the building. The heat does not stay in the unit, the brick wall in my living room is crumbling and there are large gaps in it. They will not provide me with any information regarding their licensure, other buildings they manage, and I can’t find anything about the company online.

This company is a scam no results only money spent and no explanation. They claim to be helping those who need a second chance but it's all a marketing scheme.

Pretend to be the landlord/owner. Rent out a house offered at $800. Month, with an option to buy at $1,350 a month. I didn’t want to buy, but rent sounded great at $800. A month was prefect He wanted $2,400. For 3 months rent one month security deposit. I paid $20. for an application fee, with my credit card. Reach out via email, then asked for me to text him after that communication was through text alone. He linked me to the code of a smart lock walked me through the steps as well as send me links for the application and emailed me what looks like a certified lease. I just looked up the number thank GOD the signature wouldn’t go through on the lease it wouldn’t sign he has all my information plus pictures of my identification, 4 last numbers of my social security number. He got $20. From me now I have to report it in case he tries to steal my identity which I believe he will.

I searched Craigslist for rentals in my local area. I came across an add and followed up. The scammer wanted me to fill out an application which turned out to be a credit score check that would enroll me in a mo they fee of $29.95 + $825 for monthly rent. He said it is his property but also was/is using very incorrect grammar. I addressed him about the payments and he just keeps asking me to fill it out. I said no thanks. And he still is reaching out to me.

He also asked me if I was an adult and if 2 adults were renting… I thought that was odd. But I told him it was an adult and a child. He has been really persistent since then. So trafficking may be worth looking into.

being dumb I found a place to live on Market Place on Facebook and was told application fee was 95 dollars I paid it with the Cash App and after going all the way to see the place the person stopped messaging and I lost my money. I just want to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else. I have reported it to Facebook and Cash App

They asked me for $50 for application fee. And then before me even sing the house, they was trying to get 1500 from me. And now they're not answering the phones or responding to my text messages or emails about the money that I sent them, which was the fifty dollars for the rental application fee

This scammertold me rent was $1490 and has a sign in the front yard posted for rent with AH4R.com sign with phone number. I contacted the company and its listed for over $2000 and the representative even told me that i was being scammed . Luckily i did not pay the application fee or give information about myself.

- Washington, DC, USA • May 29, 2024

This website copies old home and apartment listings from a reputable site like Zillow and reuses them as below market average rentals on Craigslist. The listed realtors pictures do not match their names. With a reverse google image search the pictures appear to be stolen from reputable real estate agent sites from around the country. The scammer contacted me and with poor English stated the property was available from my requested dates. When I asked for a viewing, they said the viewing will be arranged but they needed to conduct a preliminary background investigation first. They asked for personally identifiable information, specifically:

"What is your previous history with your landlord? Can he/she vouch for you? Also, what do you do for a living? Do you have any criminal record that we should be aware of? What is your credit score? Do provide all this information and any other relevant information that you feel would better sell you to us as the ideal tenant."

At this point, I felt uncomfortable and further investigated the website and realtor. Both appear fake.

Purchased a "apartment package" from my understanding is a credit repair that helps get second chance on apartment approvals..I purchased in Jan and still was not provided a chance to find a home I've been homeless for 5months with limited answers and refusal to return my money for the package or money used to apply for apartment homes that was never used to do so

- Riverdale, GA, USA

The scammer listed a house for rent on Facebook marketplace, Then I was sent a fake application to apply for the house. The application fee was 70 dollars. I applied for me and my fiancé. So That totals to 140 dollars. I was then sent a fake approval letter via email. It was then I was asked to send a security deposit of 750 dollars. I didn’t send it because I realized that I was indeed being scammed. I have screen recordings and screenshots from our conversations. I have screenshots of the listing, the fake approval letter, and application.
