Have received 2 calls in 20 minutes, the first caller claiming to be calling from Telus, offering us a 30% discount on our local phone service. I told him we don't have an account with Telus, and suddenly he is authorized to represent all local phone services across Canada, including Shaw, our provider. I asked him where he was calling from, and he said 'Reliant', and claimed again about their broad authorization.

The next caller was a woman, again claiming to represent Telus, offering discounts on long distance. I asked her who she was and where she was calling from. 'Ophelia - Reliant Communications.' I spoke with Shaw, our phone provider, and confirmed that no company such broad authorization and Shaw doesn't use third parties for promotion.

I searched Reliant on the net and see that they are notorious in the US for picking off competitors' customers who have no idea what has happened until they start receiving invoices from them.
