The scammer pretended to be a professor during the pandemic and offered an assistant position as they stated they were quarantined abroad. They sent a fake check and asked me to use the funds to pay for gift cards for students abroad and send her rent to her landlord. The check bounced the next day. And the accounts they used to contact me were no longer in service.
