I was looking at my checking account and noticed two unexpected $20 transactions from this fraudulent company. I never signed up to their service. I don’t even know what their service is. When I called them to try to find out, they wouldn’t answer my questions and just promise that they would shut down my account. They would not refund my money.

- Seabeck, WA, USA • Apr 06, 2026

Faults affiliation (Kitsap Credit Union) supplier of records from my bank.

I thought it was a legitimate county records website I was accessing from Propertyrecs.com. It said it was $1 for a property's full report which seemed reasonable, even government has overhead right? Wrong. I should have realized by the 7 steps to checkout that kept trying to get me to pay more for some extra feature it wasn't an official site. Get to the end accept the $1 dollar charge get the report. All the sudden there's another 9.99 charge on my debit card from them and it took me way to long to figure out they forced a subscription without my consent! I cancelled it (all this happened in under 30 mins) and locked my card but have no way to dispute the charge. I hate that this could trick so many people

I received 4 emails from Propertyrecs.com saying they had charged me $7, $7, $8 and $8 which I had not authorized. When I called them they agreed to refund the money. My concern is other people might not notice the charges and they continue commit fraud.

Since calling them I have received emails confirming the refund.

This business, PropertyRecs.com, charged me a monthly fee of $20 for six months for some kind of membership or access I did not intentionally purchase. I made a single one-time purchase totaling $6 for a detailed property record and history. I never knowingly agreed to a recurring membership and it is my recollection no clear opt-in/opt-out button was displayed during my checkout. I maintain this option, is present, was purposely obscured by the business owner/website author in order to surreptitiously charge individuals intending to make a single purchase. The business denies they made any purposeful attempt to deceive.

Upon challenging the business and explaining my position as never having agreed to a monthly charge on my credit card via the website chat function, I was refunded fully for the six months ($20 X 6) within five minutes. It is my opinion it was done so quickly, they are clearly used to doing this for disgruntled (i.e. scammed) customers.

After searching online for a bit, I found numerous people that had the same thing happen to them. To me, this means they are doing it on purpose. You pay $1 for a report on a home. Then a few days later another $20 charge comes out. They have already refunded me the money after I requested the refund. Their explanation was that I must have clicked the wrong subscription package. Then why would the $1 purchase have gone through without issue? So silly. I just know they're doing it to a lot people. Can y'all help with this?

- Lynchburg, VA, USA

I was looking up 1 single online public record. Great! I found it. O.K. Have it e-mailed to me for $1.00. Fine. Two months later I see a charge for $20.00 on my credit card. I call, Oh? I signed up for an account? No, I didn't. Was refunded the $20.00. Checked to make sure charge was removed, looked further back and sure enough there are 2 more payments for $20.00 automatically withdrawn after the initial $1.00 charge. Called again. Oh? My account was cancelled? Didn't sign up for one. OH! I paid $1.00 to start a free 3 day trial and only had 3 days to cancel? Yeah Right. A $20.00 refund was issued as a courtesy? Don't even try to say that I am talking to the wrong company, https://www.propertyrec.com/ is a scam.

- Austin, TX, USA

In no way did I approve a subscription service - this was a scam and I have disputed charge with credit card

- Canton, MA, USA

Used website for property records search for $5 and additional $1. I received some property search information but not what I was looking for so authorized additional search for the $1 charge.

Several days later they tried to collect $20 from credit card, credit card contacted me and I told them it was an unauthorized charge.

- Durham, NC, USA

Websites mimics official website to locate property details like a deed. You pay a few dollars to get this information and then starts debiting your account $20 each month without ever having signed up for a "subscription"

- San Antonio, TX, USA

Propertyrecs.com has a website set up to mimic an official state service. I paid $1 to receive a property report, they automatically signed me up for a monthly subscription without my approval. I disputed the charges on my credit card and am reporting it to BBB. Thanks

- Belleview, FL, USA

I made a one time purchase of $1.00 and started receiving automatic monthly withdrawals from my credit card of $20 per month which was not authorized.

- Huntington Beach, CA, USA

A requested report that was advertised for $1.00. After requesting the report, with no notice, the $1.00 was an initial payment for a 2 Year subscription at $20 per month.

- Minneapolis, MN, USA

Scammer automatically signed me up for recurring subscription without my knowledge.

- Cashmere, WA, USA

I contacted them initially online to get property values & information. I DID NOT sign up for a monthly service but apparently WAS signed up for their monthly service. This month, I noticed a charge on my credit card for $20 to propertyrecs.com...so I checked, and they've done the same charge the past 3 months. I called them at 855-719-6899 and their represented ANSWERED my call by SAYING "Are you calling to cancel your account?" I said YES, she asked for my email address, first and last name THEN said "Your account is cancelled...the $20 charge reversed...you will get an email confirmation in 3-5 business days." Then she hung up. The call lasted LESS than 1 minute.

Noticed a reoccurring charge on my credit card from propertyrec.com, I was not familiar with this so searched ScamPulse.com before taking further action. Upon searching I found a post that seemed very similar to my situation and a phone number to call. After digging a bit more around the complaints on ScamPulse.com I found that this company while not a direct scam has set themselves up to take you money and hope that you simply don't notice. They are tied to 3rd party sites that you are already apart of and that have your information. When you search for details on the piece of property you are enquiring on the site says (so I was told) you will be charged $1 for your inquiry. What is not seen in great detail is that they use companies such as propertyrecs.com who then take your details and payment info. and put you onto a $20/month reoccurring fee. Other schemes that are going on at this company

- The report that I requested was never sent, when speaking to the rep. they were happy to send it now.

- When calling the support line, the guy answered the phone with "Would you like me to cancel your account". This is their opening statement, so clearly, they know that they are scamming people.

- After explaining why I was calling / enquiring on the account, he immediately went in and canceled my account without me requesting him to.

- When asking him to confirm what information I was looking for when charged he could not find anything in the system... and then tried to get off the phone by telling me that he had already canceled the account and that there would be no further charges (this was his way of getting me off the phone without asking for a full refund)

- I than proceeded to ask for a full refund and to speak to a manager. In which case he agree to a full refund and tried to hangup once again, without speaking to a manager.

- Finally being transferred to the manager, the manager was able to provide detail around the property that I was looking up, which helped me feel better that my credit card details weren't stolen and told me that I should have received an email with the cancelation, which I had not yet (or so I thought)

- Turns out the email goes straight to Junk and that in the email address they added an "s" to the end (@propertyrecs.com) so when you are searching for propertyrec.com nothing comes up.....

All in all I believe the company is legitimate, however their business practices are more than sketchy, and this is really how they make their money.

- Townville, SC, USA

Propertyrecs.com has a website set up to mimic an official state service. When you pay $1 to receive a property report, they automatically sign you up for a monthly subscription without your approval. The have no identity data, no address, no names. They did cancel my subscription after i caught it. They did not respond to request for their identity or business license to operate in SC.

** update - I just checked their website and they have completely revamped it to remove the misleading state seal, and they have added identifying information and other details after I threatened a complaint to BBB!
