This Company calls 2 - 3 times a day from different phone numbers and locations. I have called back from numbers not my own to check, Most are Robo dial numbers, Occasionally you get a pleasant voiced answering machine with the company name asking for you to leave your info and they will get back with you. From what I have read they buy old debt that is NOT collectable by law anymore, and try to collect on it. Statute of limitations apply to MOST of what they are trying to collect on. Thus they are Stealing from people, but no one does anything about it. I have checked with my credit reports and have a Very GOOD credit score, and nothing outstanding. So they are Scammers. I have not answered any of their calls, and do not intend to.

I was called by Portfolio Recovery Associates and they did not leave a message. When I returned the call, a woman answered and asked me if the number I called them from was the number on file. I said yes and then she asked my name. I refused to give her my name and told her I have no outstanding debt, and then she said that my phone number is not on their list.

She was attempting to get me to give my personal information; for what use, I do not know. It cannot be good.

Portfolio Recovery Associates called my house, stating they were trying to collect on a debt for American MasterCard. I have never had an American MasterCard, I checked my credit reports to see if I had any accounts in default, anything I was late on, but I did not. The were unprepared and unprofessional. They were asking me for my middle initial, then giving me some random initials, neither of which was mine. The second time they called they did the same thing, and that time they wanted me to give the last 4 digits of my ss number, when I would not give them any information they offered me some bogus 4 digits to choose from. They wanted information from me before telling me why they calling. I did not feel comfortable with this company.
