I received an email from the Homeowners Association of America saying that my "HOA Assessment Statement Is Due." They said "This notice provides your official assessment for the period indicated. Assessments fund common-area maintenance, insurance, reserves, and other shared services under the Association’s governing documents." The assessment calls for the following payments:

Common Area & Facilities Maintenance $75.00

Capital Improvement Reserve Fund $60.00

Contracted Security & Patrol Services $45.92

Association Insurance & Administration $17.70

Total Balance Due $198.62

It's a scam -- I've never heard of this organization. I don't have any common areas to maintain or any security or patrol services!

The documentation looked quite official and convincing -- formatted very professionally with good English. The only clue was that their "Constitution Avenue NW, Suite 400, Washington, DC 20001" address doesn't actually include a street number. Don't fall for it.

Trying to collect HOA Dues for non existent property. Probably the best scam i have seen. very believable. When you call a girl answers on the first ring and it turns out that she is an AI Bot, but sounds so real.

HOA scam asking to send money through a portal, not affiliated with our legitimate HOA.

I received an email with a PDF attachment for an invoice to pay for my homeowners association fees. However, I don’t live in an HOA community. When I called to talk to someone, it was clearly an AI response who would not give any specific information, only general statements. I asked to confirm the address for the property in question and the response was, I would receive an email confirming. None of the emails that they sent have an address for the property. The emails and invoices look very official. When I received a response via email about the property in question, they did not verify an address and stated that this is a legitimate fee and will remain attached to the property in question and fees would continue to accrue. Also, I could not find a valid website.

Attached is the email I received. I also recently got a HELOAN and a letter saying it is from my mortgage company was also sent saying I needed to pay my HOA assessment as well as Homeowners Insurance or I will default on my loan. I already have Homeowner's Insurance through my original mortgage as as we HOA fees through my community.

I received multiple emails in my work email account, starting on September 1, 2025, soliciting payment for HOA dues. I have no association with the company, and knew immediately that it was a phishing email. I conducted a quick online research and learned that they have already been reported to the BBB, but I also wanted to share my personal experience.
