Type of a scam Online Purchase

I listed an old car on Craigslist for $700. Within 5 seconds a text came from a person saying he was from CT and was from Paymecar.com. I called his # and conversed with a friendly guy who said that he was very interested, that he repaired old cars and resold them. He said that he would mail me a check, then send up a tow truck. My alarm bells went off when he said that he would make the check out for more than the price of the car and I was to pay the driver the balance. When I started to express doubt he said he wouldn't send the tow truck until the money appeared in my bank account. I ended the conversation and went on to contact potential buyers who were able to come look at the car and pay cash. I figured that the scammer would write me off, but today ten days later a check came mailed from Raytheon corp. Woburn MA for $1289. ostensibly drawn on West Bank from West Des Moines LA. I looked it up and there is a bank by that name in Iowa, not LA. The guy texted me to say that he was informed that the check was delivered. I told him that I already sold the car for cash, and I would tear up his obviously fake check. No reply.

Please put out the name of the paymecar website (which is ridiculous, says that its been featured in Forbes, Wall St. Journal which it hasn't) They do not appear in the ScamPulse.com site as a scam and sure should.

I also filed a report with the FTC. Two phone numbers the guy used to contact me: 415 634 2268. and 213 210-9594
