I recently received a job offer through Indeed from an unknown phone number. The caller offered a position with OnTrac and scheduled a phone interview. After the interview, I received an email requesting that I complete a background check through HireRight.
Upon completing the background check, I received a call from the same individual who apologized for a "mix-up" and claimed that messages were sent to the wrong people.
Intrigued by this unusual turn of events, I investigated further. I discovered that my Indeed profile settings were configured to prevent employers from directly contacting me. This discrepancy raised red flags about the legitimacy of the job offer and the intentions of the caller.
