I heard of a “great new app” onmyway that promotes no texting and driving by way of cash incentives. It requires you to create an account, scan your drivers license and allow it to track your movements. It’s easy to work and looks well done, however after easily accruing “money” it became quickly apparent that I would not be able to receive that money and the other rewards you can trade it in for are “not currently available”. So they were able to get my drivers license, track my movements and have access to my contacts and none of what they said about receiving compensation was true in any way, cash or reward. I was duped, I’m embarrassed, I have no idea what they’re doing with the info-since you cannot remove your information or delete your account-and I don’t want it happening to anyone else.

My friend showed me this app and I was skeptical at first, but I went with it. It is a good concept, but clearly a blatant scam. It says it rewards people for driving without using their phones by tracking your movement while your phone is locked. The reward is $.05 per mile. This would be great, except there is no way to actually acquire the money "earned". The first red flag I noticed was that it wanted your license info to "verify that it is a valid license". I went along with it, and soon realized that there is no way to deactivate or delete your account, only the app itself, which means that this company has your license info forever. I and many other people flooding the comments of this companies many social media platforms, are extremely angry about this. I am going as far as getting a new drivers license with new number issued, because I do not want my information in anyone's hands but my own.
