In March 2022 I message popped up on my computer stating that it was hacked. The message directed me to call a number listed as Microsoft. It turned out to be a service that could clear up the problem for a fee of $2647 for one year. The company is Nova Soft of Fairfax, Va 22038. Ph 203-493-7979. I went through the process of filling out a check which they copied via the computer camera. Nova Soft took over my computer and cleared the virus. After that I had second thoughts and did not send the check. Subsequently, I have received many phone calls that I ignored. The calls came from different cities, one being Waco Texas. I continued to block all the calls that I recognized. Yesterday I received several messages stating that they had to talk to me in order to cancel next years security service. If I didn't my checking account would be charged $13,000. I called 203-463-7979 and talked to Tiffany She said she would cancel the charge of $13,000 as long as I paid $6800. I explained that this is not something that I would ever agreed to pay. Then she said she would discount some other fees and taxes so that I would only pay $5800. I refused to pay this. Then she said she would talk to her manager Max. almost immediately she told me that They would accept $3800. I did make out the check and she copied it via the computer camera. She wanted me to transfer the amount through an online transfer. I said I was not able to due that. She asked if I could overnight it and I said I was not able to do that. I said I would mail it by noon today (within 2 hours). Have not sent it so far as I am certain this is a scam.
