A letter sent to my elderly parents dated July 5, 2024 (received it July 12, 2024. RE: Award Claim Notification. Claim Number 70-07-909-WC

We are pleased to inform you that you are one of the winners in the "NORTH AMERICA CONSUMER PROMOTION DRAW" organized for all customers of Wal-Mart, Sears, Home Depot, Safeway etc.

You are entitled to the sum of US $250,000.00. CONGRAGULATIONS!

Your Winning is payable by Certified Check, and will be delivered to you by a courier company (FedEx or UPS). You are therefore advised to contact Claim Agent:

Monday - Friday 8am-6pm Sat. 8am-5pm (Eastern Standard Time), for further instructions on how to claim your big winnings.

Received a letter today Wednesday November 1,2023 claiming I've won 🏆 🙌 the sum of $ 250,000.00..
But,I must contact my Claim Agent Lisa Anderson @ 1(800-230-2043)...I was sent a check ✔ from Wheaton Bank 🏦 & Trust ( 211 Wheaton Avenue Wheaton,Illinois 60187)for $ 2,675.50 for taxes of $ 2,000.00 owed on said winnings...Processing & Insurance fees for $250,000.00...Letter has North American Financial 245 Riverside Avenue Suite 250 Jacksonville, Florida 32202 @ top L corner...H. Edmondson ( Vice President Of Finance @ bottom L corner)...
I immediately went online to find scams, lol...Enclosed is pic of the letter & check sent to me...
Letter envelope had Canada post 📫 on L & R sides...L side had York Civic Centre 2700 Eglinton Avenue West Toronto,ON M6M 1V1

A letter was received along with a check for $2,675.50. I was supposed to contact Susan Hamilton 800-572-0641 and reference Claim# DC-110-02-702 in order to receive the "North American Consumer Promotion Draw" reward of $250,000. In order to get the reward I was directed to send a check for Processing & Insurance fees for a sum of $2,000. I did some research and noted that the address for the bank the check was written on was incorrect and that there were previous people scammed that did end up losing both check they received - when the bank determined it was no good and the $2,000 they sent. I do not want anyone else to fall prey to this scam and hope there is some kind of action that can be taken to find these scammers!

Received a notification in the mail addressed to my mother in law. Knew it was a scam the second I saw the first line in the letter. Mother in law is an invalid in a nursing home and hasn't shopped any of the stores mentioned in over 10 yrs. Anyway, it's the same scam as other's have described above. Just different banks and locations. See provided photo below. There's a special place in hell for those that prey on the elderly and the naive. Think I'll have fun with these people and see how far I can push them before they figure it out.

I received a letter saying I had won $250,000 from the North America Consumer Promotion Draw for customers of Walmart. A check for $2675.50 dated 3.31.22 was enclosed. The letter said per your state regulations a tax amount of $2000 will be required for your winnings. It also said your winnings are payable by certified check and would be delivered by FedEx or UPS. On the top of the check in fine print it reads for security purposes, the face of this document contains a colored background and micro printing in the border. The letter reads do not act until you speak to a claims agent. The letter is signed by H. Herrington, VP of Finance. I called my claims agent Sandra Peterson. She is foreign. I couldn't understand her very well. She told me to deposit the check into the bank. She said do not take the letter with me. She said once the check is deposited I should call her back. The return address on the envelope is Toronto, ON, Canada M6M IVI.

It reads a processing fee will be required before your lump sum winnings can be issued to you. Claim Agent Samantha Smith 888-601-4759 and W. Hunter, Vice-President of Finance.
