Received an email from Mary Tyson at email address [email protected] ordering an unusually large purchase to have it shipped to Finland. We indicated we would need to get a shipping estimate to provide an accurate quote.Prior to doing so, Mary made payment by credit card in the amount of $2700. She then asked that we forward part of that payment to pay her preferred shipping company, and they would come pick up the order. She provided a gmail address of [email protected] for us to make those arrangements.

A google search did not find this company. A similarly named company had non-gmail addresses for its employees. We asked additional questions and were not satisfied with her response so took no further action. She has sent escalating demands for her initial payment to be repaid to her, with threats to damage our business reputation.

Subsequently, I was contacted by the owner of the stolen credit card used to make the purchase. She lives in the US. Reports were made to Canadian Anti Fraud Centre and Waterloo Regional Police.
