- Reisterstown, MD, USA

I received a “confirmation notice” that I was the 2nd prize winner in the second category of the EUROPEAN, AFRICAN and USA Consumer sweepstakes, in conjunction with USA Departmental Stores. The serial number 81149 attached to your name, matched the first five lucky winning numbers and subsequently won you US$***. The letter stated that Mutual Financial incorporated has been assigned by the sweepstake organization. Enclosed is a check in the amount of $*** provided to help you pay for the processing fee. You are advised to contact your claims agent Mr. Oscar Paolm @ 1-877-319-9498. The letter is signed by a Jene Olgah, Promotion Manager. There was a detachable section at the bottom of the letter requesting my first name, Last Name, Address, Claim Number and signature.

He check was made out to me, lists a business called ACETO CORPORATION issued by JP Morgan Chase Bank N.A.

- Craftsbury, VT, USA

A check #8338702 in the amount $1,950.00 Issued by John Hancock Life Insurance Co, and Citibank N.A. arrived in the mail today. It asks for a Processing fee of $1,800.00 to activate the check enclosed. It says I matched the first 5 lucky numbers and I won US$180,000.00 from the consumers sweepstakes lottery held on March 24th 2017.

Needless to say I have not entered any lotteries. I'm terribly concerned that some senior citizens might be hoodwinked into believing this scam. Since it came through the mail, I assume it's a federal crime.

Received a letter in the mail along with a check for 1,9500.00 provided to help pay for the processing fee. Processing fee is: 1,8000.00 US dollars. I was to contact Julia Vander @ 1-877-688-5828 Monday-Friday: 9am -5pm to start my claim processing and to activate my check. It says always call this number on this letter to avoid any discrepancy. Congratulations *** ***, Promotion Manager

I was sent a check for $3750.00 drawn on Sewell, 7310 Lemmon Avenue, Dallas, Texas

I was told I had won $250,000 and to call the number listed on the letter which was 1-877-260-2425 and the name Ms. Jene Olgah was who was listed.

When I called I was told to take the check to the bank and call her back once deposited. I was told to only take the check, nothing else. When I asked why I couldn't take the letter she said just take the check. I asked her if this was a scam and she hung up on me.

I called back and she answered the 2nd time I called. I informed her that I was reporting her scam to the ScamPulse.com and she said "F U" that is all "FU" and hung up.

My father in law received a letter with a check for $3750.00 stating it was money to help with the processing fees of a consumer sweepstake winning $250,000.00. Mutual Financial Incorporated was the sending company. The envelope was from South Africa.

Received a letter from "Mutual Financial Inc, Lottery, Resources Management & Payment Verification" saying they are pleased to bring this official notice which confirms me as one of the 2nd prize winner of the European, African and USA Consumer Sweepstakes in conjunction with USA Department Stores. They enclose a check for $3750 to help me pay the processing fees of $3400. They say I must contact my claims agent right away - Ms. Jene Olgah at 877-322-4686. It's is signed "Congratulations, Jerry Palom, Promotions Manager."The fake check is supposedly from "Bayer Built" in Belgrade MN. Of course, this is the overpayment scam and I did not respond.

Letter received from "Mutual Financial Incorporated" claiming to be an official notice confirming me as one of the 2nd prize winners of a sweepstake in the amount of $250,000. Included was a very real looking check for $3,750.00 drawn on JP Morgan Chase Bank, NA in Syracuse New York of the account of Duke Engineering Corporation, 550 South Tyron St., Charlotte, NC 28285. This check is provided (supposedly) "to help you pay for the processing fee" of $3,400.00.

The company is similar in name and address to Duke Energy, the Duke Energy Center is at 550 South Tryon (not Tyron) in Charlotte, NC 28285. There (of course) appears to be no such Duke Engineering Corporation and their address is an obvious fabrication being close to the name and spelling of a well known company and the address of one of their plants.

The instructions say to call "your claims agent" @ 1-877-322-4686 "to start your claim processing and to activate your check".
