Someone called my Mother in law and said she could get braces for her knees for free through Medicaid. They said to give them her Medicaid card number and she would get them in the mail. She gave them her Medicaid number. Is this a scam?

I was called at my work by someone named "Chris". Our secretary patched him through to me saying that he had "medial information" for me - being that I was just at the doctor's this wasn't too alarming, other than the fact that I don't believe I gave them my work number. I answered and he asked "How are you, is this *** ***?" I replied "Yes, I'm good how are you?" and he hung up. Confused, I did some research and I believe that I was scammed. There was no caller ID that I know of on this call. The call sounded like it was from a call center. The person on the other line had an Indian accent.
