The "subject" had my part of my email and a password I had used for a social media site. That got my attention.
Here is language to look for:
"If you choose to do nothing, it will not shield you from the humiliation you and your family will feel when family and friends find out your unpleasant videos from me."
Required Amount: $2900

"At this point you may be thinking, “I will call the cops”. Without a doubt, I have covered my steps to ensure this e-mail cannot be linked back to me and it will not stop the evidence from destroying your health. I am not looking to steal all your savings. I just want to get paid a 'confidentiality fee' for the time I put into investigating you."
It is very unsettling that this happened, even though I know in my head it is a scam. I am sure someone could hack-up any video saying it was about me. The boldness of this direct extortion and all of the small details of passwords and email was also quite alarming. If you receive an email like this, please DON'T PAY anyone any $$$. Life is too short to worry about "what might be out there about you" and anything could be created about you! As neither hackers nor the internet is going away anytime soon, I hope you will let your family members know NOT to respond to this email!
