She is still on her game. She just had me come do an estimate, on a property that we found out was for sale. Roof estimate, send a check, keep what she owes and pay the plumber the rest... Went for research and found everyone else is loving Maria too!

This person - man, woman, it, also tried with us today - we are in SoCal. They sent an email early in the morning around 6. Usually I can already kind of tell it's off because the time email was sent, that they don't leave a phone number, city, address or any info, there are grammar issues or it's written in text-speak even though it's supposedly someone impersonating someone older/disabled, etc. Anyway, they said they were hearing impaired and they need a roof replacement. I asked for location, address, phone numbers. They wrote back fairly quickly saying they would provide that but do I take credit card. I said yes. They wrote back giving an address and saying pls go there and email the estimate! Like I'm going to go up on someone's roof unauthorized lolol. The address is a mobile home in a community. I called the community to check if that was the person living there but they refused to confirm for me - I guess for privacy reasons. Fine. Next step I checked the background check app I use to verify my employees before hiring them. This person was not registered to this address. I immediately wrote this person back telling them (which is true) we do not do estimates without meeting the client first and they are not the public record owner of the property. Think that ended it - they appear to be done with the emails now lol. I then decided for fun to do a search for their email address and found this thread. Thank you for existing - scampulse. This is perfect. As contractors, we get targeted a lot. So just adding my entry. Why do they do this and bother good people? Maybe because it sometimes works for them, which is horrible.

Email from [email protected] indicating the need for a home repair in Maryland. Said she would send us a check and as she was supposedly hearing impaired and out of state, could we pay the plumber to help her out. We actually got a check, but it was cancelled after we paid the "plumber" $3500. Be advised this person uses their fake disability to soften you up and is tenacious. He/she/it will keep coming back promising another check and has an excuse for everything. There are no lows to which some people will go to steal from others. So sad.

Same exact fraud from Maria Sanches, using the exact same email, exact same words, EVERYTHING. It threw me off when she reached out to us via ONLY email and refused at first to give us a phone number. After pressing for one, they gave it to us, we sent the salesman, they quoted and it was approved. When it came time for me to call to get the shingle and drip info, the phone number didn't work (which I already knew since the salesman told me after he viewed the property). I sent her a message asking for a good phone number and they insisted to do everything over email because they were having phone issues - that is where my alarm bell started ringing hard... if you can't manage to keep up with a phone bill, you can't afford a roof replacement and I am NOT about to install a roof without having seen or spoken to a person. I researched the property record card and saw the names did not match, so I told them and they asked who was listed and then they responded that they bought the property from them. Again, that didn't sound right, so I researched the property and saw it was actively listed for sale, so I put in an inquiry and spoke to a real estate agent and they confirmed it was actively for sale.

I wrote back to her telling her I would need proof of ownership and 50% deposit, to which they were happy to pay with a card, but asked about the fees we charge. I said we have no fees, but because a past dispute occurred where someone reported their roof payment as fraud and the card company reversed the transaction, I told "her" that we would require the payment in the form of a cashiers check or money order and we would need proof of home ownership before moving forward and that was the last I heard from them. I decided to Google search the email and found this amazing thread.

Thank you all for confirming what I already knew, but also showing that the fraud hasn't changed at all after several years. I hope you all have reported this to the authorities. I know I will!

Good day my name is Maria Sanches. I am hearing impaired I have a house and I want the roof replaced. Can you get me an estimate ?

Best Regards,
Maria

Ok I will send you the address and info are you the owner and do you take credit cards ?

She tried to do the same thing with me! Same speech, same lines! She just made me waste my time! I took the time to go see the property and give her an estimate! Once she mentioned about the credit card payment that's where I just knew that this was a scam! I'm not going to lie, she made me waste my time because I never really thought much of the situation since I get a lot of clients on the regular basis. [censored] this [censored] artist! Try to [censored] with decent people who try to make a decent living.

Apparently she just bought a house in Amarillo, TX! She did send an address, but the credit card question was a giveaway to the scam.

I received the same email on 09/05/2020. (Memphis, TN)
