Scammer posted picture of an apartment for rent on Craigslist. Scammer asked for me to leave phone number for quick response. Posing as real estate agent scammer asked questions regarding criminal background and credit. Scammer then emails you a website where your asked to pay a $30 dollar fee for a credit check. The credit check is to verify that you qualify for the apartment. The scammer asked that you screenshot the credit report and send it to him. Stating that the $30 is refundable. The website is also believed to be fraudulent. Your personal information is up for grabs and the second you reply to the text the apartment listing is removed. The scammer then sends you to a second site and tells you that it's for the purpose of a background check and attempts to get more money. When you ask for the name, phone number and exact address of the property for the purpose of viewing the property the scammer tells you it can only be viewed after the background check has been completed. When asked about the refundable background check scammer replied that it would be given to you on day of apartment showing. That's when I realised I'd officially been scammed. I told the scammer that no way are you guys putting $30 cash in the hands of everyone that comes to a showing! The scammer then says well I'm not going to show you the apartment so how do you want your money back? I said you can Zelle it to this phone number that you keep texting. Then the scammer said I will send it to you tomorrow. I then said I'm going to report you to ScamPulse.com with all the information that I have.
