Was sent a text for an interview for a job to which I had not applied. Upon investigation, I could not find any of the contacts anywhere when searching, and they are not employees of Topango. The only place I found the phone number was the ScamPulse.com scam board here. Looks like a typical job scam as described in the report I saw.

I was offered a mystery shopper job from Walgreen Boots Alliance from recruiter Melony Broadnax. I received my instructions on January 6, 2025. The instructions stated my assignment was to purchase Postal Money orders totaling $2460 in $820 denominations, along with 4 books of stamps, all from the same Post office. I received a check from drawn from an account from FIRST Community Credit Union CHECK NO 1000009804; ACCOUNT NUMBER 1031005510160011994985 ROUTING NUMBER 001000009904 in the amount of $2961.04 to purchase the money orders and stamps, and to keep $300 for my wages, and the Leftover Funds of $141.67 (deduction extra charges incurred during the purchase of money orders). the instructions stated to maintain discretion as I operate incognito. to avoid using notepads or displaying conspicuous behavior within the evaluated location. upon completion I am to mail the assignment to another mystery shopper via FEDEX/UPS, and to text (206-395-6090), immediately after reading the instructions and completing purchases to receive further guidance.

I will be sending all of this back to them.

I was contacted via Gmail, when I traced back the emails they were originally in my spam folder, but one of slipped into my inbox. The scammer was consistent with sending detailed emails about a job opportunity with high pay and low working hours. He even talked with me on the phone and sent “official documents” stating I was hired, an agreement of the terms, and sent me job assignments to complete to “assess my skills”. Everything seemed legit but deep down I was skeptical of if it was a real job. The original email that was sent had a scammer type of email, but when we started exchanging emails that’s when his email address and email font changed which was odd. They told me they had another assignment that required me to deposit a check for a client and I had to send the money to the manager because it was an oversees payment and the client was in the United States and since I worked in the United States I was the only one who was able to distribute the money. They sent a check to my house even though I didn’t agree to be apart of the transaction. The check was fake, some important part of the check to make it depositable was missing. Overall the company is fake. The manager is fake. If they try to tell you they are opening up offices in the United States and found your job application or cover letter online they are lying and are trying to get you caught up in illegal activities. Do not trust any email job offers or opportunities that you never reached out to yourself.

Did you report it to the police?

Signed on to what I thought was a secret shopper site. I was a shopper once before. Turns out to be illegitimate. Sent me a check for over $3000 to visit local Walmart, make purchases, file a report and keep the left over.

Signed on to what I thought was a secret shopper site. I was a shopper once before. Turns out to be illegitimate. Sent me a check for over $3000 to visit local Walmart, make purchases, file a report and keep the left over. I contacted by text and advised to delete my information from their database. Got another notice to check my mail box as another check was on the way. Sent email advising a second time to stop sending me this stuff but I'm afraid it will keep coming.

He offered a remote job. Wanted me to buy gifts for "kids" and we would "meet" when he returned from Vermont in a couple weeks. He was going to have me start immediately and send me my first paycheck immediately.

I received this garbage.

I received a text message from the phone number listed and the message reads as follows:

“ Good day, I’m Joann Price. I'm contacting you in regards to your resume reviewed by our company (APPELLO PHARMACEUTICALS). From INDEED.

We're excited to invite you to interview for the position of a Remote Data Entry Analyst/Customer Service Representative, work from home with a pay of $35 per hour. We would like to know if you're Interested?”

After double checking on Indeed, I saw that I did not apply for a job there nor was it listed on the website as a company. After a quick Google search, I seen that it was a scam.

- Leon, IA, USA

i applied on Indeed and they used my hometown to make me think i was going to be working from home and then tried to get me to pay during the webinar
