I have been receiving a harassing recorded phone call from someone claiming to be the IRS. They call saying that if I do not contact them immediately they will file a law suit against me.

- Weehawken, NJ, USA

I received a phone call from the above phone number. It was a recording with a female robotic voice. The recording said the call was urgent. It added there was an issue with my IRS return and my identity might have been compromised. It when on to say, if I didn't call the same number being called from, the local authorities could find me and arrest me. Ok so i was alarmed. I decided to call the number back, but not from my cell (where the call originated from), I called from the office phone. A man answered and said some type of official sounding into. I said what is this about? He asked for my name, I gave it. He asked for my social security, I refused. I said I would rather confirm who I am by address or something else. He asked my age. I gave it. He asked me to describe myself. I questioned that. He said my identity has been stolen and they have my description. I said I have curly hair then I stopped and said I find this hard to believe. He then said the weirdest thing. He said, don't hesitate to describe yourself, you are very beautiful and I am interested in you. I said wow now I know I am not talking to the IRS. He added, I'm not a pervert, please continue. I hung up and told my manager what happened.

They say they're the IRS. Even called themselves the Internal Revenue Service and everything. They leave a message saying that there is a warrant out for your arrest and ask you to call them back. Upon calling them back and telling them you know they aren't really the IRS, they cuss you out and hang up.

Called saw caller ID called back; spanish sounding man stated he was from the IRS and he stated she owned money and she stated its not true and she stated she was going to call and report this to someone and he hung up

Received a call on my cell phone. Call was from New York. The call was a computer generated voice stating URGENT. The voice said it was from the IRS and they found multiple discrepancies on my tax return and that I needed to call them back at 646-597-9890 within 24 hours or I would be arrested by local authorities. This phone call was very threatening. I suggest anytime a person feels threatened or violated by a call from whom they do not know begin with the BBB. They were a tremendous help. All is well now.

I kindly asked the gentleman to remove my number from his calling list and not to call me again, after calling me twice within one hour time. He proceeded to inform me that he was with the IRS and there was a claim against me and i needed to pay it now so i would not go to jail (his words not mine). I informed him that he was not the IRS they are not located in Michigan and I am not as dumb as he thinks I am. I further asked to speak to his supervisor, which he refused. I told him that i was going to report him to the ScamPulse.com and the IRS and he proceeded to call me a "STUPID [censored]ING [censored]"! I let him know that was very professional language coming from an employee that says he works for our Federal Government.

I have blocked the number so that i can no longer receive calls.

- Toledo, OH, USA

I received many calls today from the "IRS" claiming I will receive money from them. I just now received another call from 707-343-1553. When I called the number back, a female answered and a voice message to leave a message and the call will be returned.

- Port Arthur, TX, USA

I answered my phone and a voicemail stated that I had been audited by the IRS and I needed to call them back to avoid being arrested. I call the number and woman I could barely understand told me I was chosen to be audited for my taxes and I had back taxes I had not paid, and they would have the city police come and pick me up for the $4800.00 I owed.

- Deerbrook, WI, USA

I got a phone call saying it was the IRS and they were getting ready to sue me if I did not pay them

- Pensacola, FL, USA

Caller stated person is being sued by IRS and there is a warrant for arrest

- Arlington, TX, USA

This number calls and states that they are from the IRS and I am going to jail. They have mine and my husbands name. State that they have a IRS fraud case against me and I will be hauled to jail if I don't comply. When confronted that they are a scam they turn nasty, cuss you out, speak highly inappropriately and sometimes hang up. I called back to get my number removed and they again become abusive. I asked what precinct that I need to show up to and what court house to go. They continued to stick to their story; however, their behavior was not that of a government employee or a professional. This is definitely a scam.

- Oroville, CA, USA

Received call from above number. Recording saying a tax fraud claim had been made towards my name. This is the final notice before you are arrested and to call a different number back as soon as possible. I was unable to write the second number down and it only said it once.

- Amarillo, TX, USA

Got an automated call on my VM that said it was the IRS and they had a warrant out for my arrest. They gave a call back # which you called back and spoke to a woman who could barely speak English. She answered w/ a "hello". I asked her who this was and she said it was the IRS. I told her I was going to report to the ScamPulse.com and FBI and she hung up. Clearly a scam.

- Willis, TX, USA

Today I received a second call (on voicemail) from these people saying that I will be picked up by local police because of 4 allegations against me and I need to call 909-999-6800 immediately to handle this. Since I know the IRS only communicates via mail I’m not calling back. However I am very concerned about this fraudulent call going out.

- Imperial, MO, USA

I got a call from this number who showed up on my caller ID as a Nicole Hipolto. I never answered and the message I received was an automated message. They claimed to be from the IRS and that I owed money and they would arrest me if I didn't call this number back. I did not call back.

- Ashland, MO, USA

I received voicemails from these phone numbers claiming to be from the IRS. They said I was 6 months late on payments and they were going to be filing a law suite against me. I contacted them and they said they were in Washington D.C. It sounded like a warehouse in the background. I told them I have heard of IRS scams and if they really had something, to resend it to me. They got mad at me and I hung up.
