- Greensboro, NC, USA

Customer received a call from someone pretending to be with the IRS. Phone number 202-813-5875 regarding lawsuit by IRS. Been getting calls all day from them.

- Huntsville, AL, USA

Caller identified themselves with an agent number and as an IRS agent, and asked to find out when I would be home so that the Madison County Sheriff's department could serve a warrant for my arrest in a case against me where I owed $250,000. The called id said "U.S. Government" and (804) 916-8700. The agent passed me to a "supervising agent" when requested, who gave me his name (Eric Foster) and the above number to call, and a case number. I took the information and called my accountant, who confirmed this was a scam. It sounded quite real and very scary.

- Bullard, TX, USA

We received a call from someone claiming to be the IRS saying they have been trying to get in touch with us and we have a lawsuit against us. The message said to call 914 600 0202 for more information and to talk to someone about it. The number that called us was an 888 number but I did not note it down. We did not call back because we know it is a scam.

- Fall River, MA, USA

I received a call from the IRS saying I was going to be arrested if I didn't pay my back taxes. I told him I knew he was a scam and that the IRS wouldn't call. He hung up

- Fort Wayne, IN, USA

I had a number call me, female voice of Chinese or Japan accent claiming to be a police officer, and claim that this call was regarding money that needed to be collected from the 2009-2014 year for taxes and proceeded to ask for my name and zipcode, also notifying me that I will be arrested if the debt goes uncollected.

- Gainesville, FL, USA

Voice mail message was left on my phone claiming to be from an IRS office. A woman sternly indicated that there was a problem (didn't elaborate) and that disregarding the call would lead to legal prosecution.

The caller ID indicated the number was from Dulles, Virginia but that is hard to tell these days since the number of origin can be faked.

- Oak Harbor, WA, USA

This scam said the dept of treasury has a enforcement action against us and if we ignore the phone call. We will have to go before a federal judge. His name was Dennis Wayne from Argyle Texas number is 9406419076.

They called my mother from a 509-590-0085 number stating they were with the IRS and they would come arrest her if she did not pay them $6,000. They threatened her and scared her and said they would finally take $1000.00 to stop them from arresting her right now. They stated she under paid her taxes from 2009 to 2014. Thankfully my mother is smart and called me and I work with Homeland security and the local police. She asked for their employee number and supervisor and they told her they would see her in court and hung up. I called back and it was a Spokane Washington number and they barely spoke English. I told them they messed with teh wrong person and they were busted. The man was making kissing sounds in teh phone.

- Dayton, OH, USA

Received call from someone working for IRS. Giving out money to outstanding citizens who have not committed a crime. To get the money you need a prepaid credit card or direct deposit to checking account. Call was disconnected when I said "No, this is a scam".

- Atlanta, GA, USA

I received a phone call from a recording stating the IRS was going to file a complaint against me. I redialed the number to inquire as to the truthfulness of the statement. I spoke to a man named Christian Benny. He spelled his name and gave me a badge number. He had a thick accent and he was difficult to understand. When I asked to speak with his supervisor, I knew the call was a scam because "Benny" claimed his manager would be a moment since he was busy signing a warrant for someone else's arrest. Out of curiosity, I stayed on the line to listen to what the manager had to say. The manager recited my alleged back tax amount and stated that he "could take of it so that no police show up to arrest me." I asked how and he told me they accept visa, MasterCard, and Amex. I laughed and said nice try.

Received an automated call stating I was being sued by the IRS. I called the number back and they said I owed $1022 for the tax years between 2009-2014. They stated there was an arrest warrent out for me and that my identity was "in the red". I was told I needed to go to a CVS Store and purchase two $500 iTunes giftcards (without mentioning IRS to the cashier). Once done, and the card numbers were given to the person on the line (as proof) an officer would arrive to show me the forms I needed to see & sign to revoke the warrant for my arrest. There was an additional $600 "penalty" applied as well for the arrest warrent.
