I received 3 phone calls from 315-277-9195, stating that they were from the IRS and that they have a law suit against me and I needed to contact them at the above number. I didn't return their call. I just read about this scam in my local newspaper and thought I needed to turn in this number.

- Snohomish, WA, USA

I was contacted by phone @ 12:49 pm on 2/25/16 by an automated message that said I owe the IRS money. I called the # back which is(206)204-5554 a man answered and said "Internal Revenue Service, how may I help you? He had a very thick accent, I told him he is NOT the IRS and not to call me again. He then said I owed $5000.00 and he was going to take it from me. I laughed and hung up on him.

- Cincinnati, OH, USA

phishing email claiming to be the IRS requesting to open a link and provide personal information. Obviously a fraud based on grammer and general concept.

- Deer Creek, IL, USA

I received a call from someone claiming to be Bryan Snyder with the IRS. He said that he had an arrest warrant out for this address and that I would be arrested. He called from 262-383-3971 but he wanted me to call him back at 352-547-4013. I called the sheriff and he advised me to call the ScamPulse.com because it sounded like a scam.

Got phone call said they were the irs and has a lawsuit against us

- Omaha, NE, USA

An international call from Tel. # 312-878-9013 left a recording stating that the IRS is filing a lawsuit to collect unpaid due taxes, at that point in the recording I hung up knowing that it was a scam call.

- Wichita Falls, TX, USA

Received call from phone number 646-274-1928 where they identified themselves as the IRS and stating that if I did not settle this matter I would be arrested.

- Rockford, IL, USA

I've had at least three calls in less than 30 hours from 347-560-5299.

The recorded voice (claiming to be Officer Lauren Matthews of the IRS, but sounding like an automated customer service voice) is vague about whom they're trying to reach. The recording says "The very second you receive this message, contact your lawyer of record..." and orders whomever hears the message to call "her" back at 347-560-5299 immediately or they will take action.

1) The IRS clearly states it NEVER contacts people out of the blue by phone or email;

2) The recording never says who's being called or why;

3) Last time I checked, the IRS wasn't a law enforcement agency with Officers.

They're probably hoping that people will assume there's a problem with their tax return or rebate and will easily cough up their SS# or other personal information.

I received a phone call stating that I owed several thousands of dollars in back taxes. He stated that I was going to go to jail and be fined $90,000 or more in court fees and penalties. He said I had to pay the debt immediately and would wait on the phone for me to get the money. I then told him I needed more time and became more aggressive. He said that they will be at my door and charges have been pressed. I was able to get him to give me a number to call back once I had the money. I then called my tax preparers and they informed me that it's a scam. I was instructed to get payment information. I then called him back and told him I had the money. He said he would instructions through the payment process on the EFT#. I told him no he would not, that I wanted the and I would do it on my own. He then laughed at me and hung up the phone. I then received a call from another one but this one came in from Jamaica. That started another series of issues. In all I received several calls over a period of two days.

On 2/23/16, I received via my cell phone (which by the way, I only give out to close friends and family) four voice messages through the day from 206.899.6305 (WA, USA). Each from female computerized/auto message saying: "From IRS/Internal Revenue Service, reason for call is to inform you that IRS is filing lawsuit against you. To get more details on this case file, call 206.899.6305." On 2/24/16, I received a voice message from my cell phone from "Unknown" with similar message that IRS has been trying to reach me regarding lawsuit filed by IRS. This time it was from a male (calling himself: Officer from Internal Revenue Service) but left no phone number to return call.

I did not call the callers back because I know this is a scam as IRS always sends information via direct postal mail. However, I am most concerned there will a vulnerable person who will not know this and will get hurt by trying to be a good citizen and providing personal data and/or money to these crooks. Please strive to shut these criminals down.

On Tuesday, February 9, 2016, an automated message was left on my home telephone in a woman's voice saying that they were calling from the IRS in Washington and that this was our last opportunity to take care of our tax debt. Later on that day, when my adult daughter arrived home, another call came in. She answered and spoke with a man who spoke with a very heavy Indian accent. He told her that she owed over $4,000 for back taxes and that she had filed fraudulent tax returns and was trying to defraud the government. She told him that she needed to speak with me and he told her that she could not speak with anyone and if she did they would be a party to the matter. He further told her that if she failed to pay the $4,000, they would be sending the police to arrest her. She called me at work from her cell phone and told me what had occurred. She was very upset and worried that she was in trouble with the IRS. She provided his telephone number to me and I said I would call to speak with the man. I called the number and I also was informed that I over over $4,000 to the IRS and had filed fraudulent tax return and was trying to defraud the government. I put him on hold and asked a colleague who is a part time tax preparer if the IRS places threatening phone calls to demand payment of money owed to them. She assured me that the IRS send correspondence and doesn't make phone calls or threats to tax payers and that it must be a scam. She advised me to contact the IRS myself which I did and was reassured by the IRS Representative that I owed no taxes and that the phone call was an attempt to scam me and my daughter. The man that I spoke with who was impersonating the IRS spoke with a very heavy accent and also threatened me with police arrest if I did not make a payment immediately. I did report the incident on the TIGTA website. Last week, we received yet another message on our answering machine claiming to be from the IRS in Washington. The call back telephone number that was left on the answering machine was (206) 451-9513.

We received a call from the someone who said his name was officer Jeff ( I don't recall his last name ). He said he was with the IRS. We had received a similar call last spring for the same thing. We contacted the BBB last time too so we new it was a scam. We hung up on him. The number that showed on our phone was 352-547-4013.

- Georgetown, TX, USA

- Saint Cloud, FL, USA

Identified themselves saying the IRS had a claim against me and that I needed to pay money or be sent to jail. But I told them I worked for the IRS and they still insisted until I told them I was an IRS Auditor and I know I have no issues, They just hang up, but 3 hours later the same number called me back and this time I just ignored the call, but they left a message telling me to urgently contact them, but the voice message both times was robot leaving me the message.
