Calls came from a number originating in in Washington D.C., (202) 486-2168. Both times, the call left an automated voicemail saying that the IRS had filed a lawsuit against me and that I needed to call the number back for the information. I did not call the number back. This happened on April 18, tax day.

3 messages left on our answering machine today from 619-756-0456 claiming to be the IRS. I have seen on the tv that the IRS will not call you, so I know this is a scam. We tried calling back the number and finally it went through on the 3rd attempt. A foreign sounding voice answered with an unclear business name- NOT the IRS. ?? It was very hard to understand him, plus there was a lot of static on the line. We hung up from him as we didn't know who we were really talking to, but we KNOW it was NOT the IRS!!

Got a call from Richfield UT, saying that we are bring sued by the IRS. 435-287-5054. Officer Nick Adams. I stupidly erased the message already. Called them back and was not until after that I checked to see if it was a scam. Saw another report of that number pop up today.

Of course I stupidly gave them my name, so now I'm sure the scamming will increase.

Left phone message to call as soon as possible about my case file. When I called an asian voice answered. Asked for my name home address phone number. When I asked what it was about he said IRS. Than he asked for my social security number which I refused as they should have it. He than asked for my file number and when I told him I did not have one he said your no F good to me and hung up. When I called back the same person answered but no he was a detective. Called the ScamPulse.com and was told to post this scam.

From Phone Number: Tax Default Line 844-351-7481; A voice mail of an "IRS Agent" leaving a threatening message that a "Collection Officer will be calling soon to complete the 'Paperworks' in the next few days and if I did not call them immediately or them hear from my attorney, to settle I would be solely responsible for all legal consequences. Goodbye". Recorder's English was poor and was struggling to enunciate correctly. IRS always sends notices via US Mail, never to any collectors call.
