That sounded very suspicious so I researched Brett Battista at Baumert Development Group LLC and found the complaint filed by R. Abshire on ScamPulse.

This is the email body after I replied that I might be interested. The cursory review of the website looked somewhat legitimate.

Here is what ChatGPT told me about it:

?? Key Warning Signs of a Scam

Too-Good-To-Be-True Compensation

$70/hour for remote, part-time work with no mention of qualifications, certifications, or vetting steps? That’s highly unusual for financial roles.

Vague Duties with High Trust Activities

You're told you'll manage "all financial affairs for the organization" and be given access to their business bank account — this is a major red flag. Reputable companies never hand over financial control during a probationary period without formal onboarding or verification.

Probation Without Pay Until End

They claim you will only get paid after 21 business days. Legitimate companies do not defer all payment until the end of a trial period — especially for financial roles.

Gifting of Expensive Equipment Post-Probation

Offering a MacBook Pro and a Samsung S25 after probation is a lure tactic. Scammers often dangle high-end gear to increase perceived legitimacy.

No Company Email or Background Check

There is no mention of HR documentation, interviews, background checks, or even onboarding. That’s another huge red flag.

Personal Manager (Name Drop)

Mentioning a "personal manager" (Brett Battista) sounds like a scripted ploy. Search his name alongside Baumert — you may find nothing verifiable.
