Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill
Custom Design Genius engaged in fraudulent business practices by falsely claiming ownership of a logo and business name they were hired to design. After requesting a refund and deleting all provided logo files, I received an email months later demanding $25,000 for alleged "unauthorized use" of intellectual property. They provided no proof that I was using the logo or that they had legal ownership of my business name.
When I asked for proof, they escalated their threats, falsely claiming:
That my name was "legally tied to an IP examination" (a nonexistent legal process).
That the U.S. Copyright Office had issued a "first strike" against me, which is not how copyright enforcement works.
That I would face financial penalties, court action, and public exposure if I did not pay or comply with their demands.
That they would sell my business name and logo to another party if I did not "secure my rights."
Their emails repeatedly imposed same-day deadlines and pressured me to "settle" without any legal basis. When I refused, they threatened further legal action but still failed to provide any evidence of wrongdoing.
This appears to be a scam targeting small business owners through intimidation, misrepresentation of intellectual property laws, and coercion. I am reporting this to warn others and prevent them from using these deceitful tactics on more victims.
