Gotham City LA Reports & Reviews (11)

I found this company from another site while searching for a job, immediately I was contacted back for a next day interview. The representative didn't seem so welcoming and assuring. I could tell her intentions for me at the company was more scripted than genuinely wanting me to be part of a team and help out others. The person texted me at odd hours without properly greeting me and I felt she was tacky with how she was trying to recruit me.. almost like in a desperate attempt to get a bonus for the sign up. Overall, I followed my gut, researched the company which led me to here... thankfully my gut was right!

Two con-artists outside target in CA yesterday gas-lit and lied to me about where my donation proceeds were going. I felt pressured by two males asking me for money to help children and had me Venmo some random dude. I was told to include their names in the “donation” notes, now I know it’s so they would get the commission... on my DONATIONS. I walked away feeling taken advantage of and outraged. Once I was safely away from these two males, I requested my donation back via venmo from the random guy that I unwillingly paid. I haven’t heard back from him. What can I do with this?! They’re preying on people, including vulnerable women walking alone.

I applied to be an “Events Assistant” on a job site for this company because the website spoke of food and toy drives and fundraisers for animal shelters. The website seemed great. I heard back within 2 hours. They immediately scheduled an interview for me, seemingly desperate to interview me. The interviewer was trying to get to know me and my interests and said most of the job logistics would be spoken about in the second round interviews. He seemed really nice and we had things in common. I had the second round interview today and it was very odd. The second interviewer gave me the company structure and pitched the job to me as a chance for young entrepreneurs to make it to partner some day. He spoke about making money at events as “commissions” which was weird. I researched the company after all of this and found several scam alerts, warning that this is an MLM company. One person experienced that the “event” was to drive an hour to a Whole Foods and beg people for money. They try to reach a quota by a certain time like 4pm and then they take part of the commission. I don’t believe they really help any charities, possibly the only one being D.A.R.E. But I don’t even know if that was true. It’s a complete multi level marketing scheme.

If you happen to come across this place while looking for a job, or worse, they contact you; STEER CLEAR. They are a MLM (pyramid scheme). Not a real job. Extremely predatory and disappointing recruitment tactics.

Had an interview with them. They use you as a tool to help raise funds for charity’s but only pay you on commission(which taking commissions for raising funds for non-profits is sleezy as hell) then they expect you to work your way up through their entrepreneurial “program” to eventually become a “partner” which means open your own small business under their umbrella and give them some of your profits.

It’s a Pyriamid scheme.

I have received a phone call and several texts from both numbers provided saying they found my resume and want to schedule an interview but will not tell me for what positions. They said I was one of 5 people to be interviewed. At first they said they would have a hiring manager contact me to tell me what positions were open. That never happened. I followed up, and another person texted me about scheduling an interview from a different number, again with no position information. I reached out to the given phone number multiple times. Every call went to a personal voicemail that did not mention any company, and text messages were only returned a day or more later saying there was no information about positions unless I scheduled an in person interview. They also said that there were tons of applications when a few days ago said I was one of 5 resumes they had found to schedule, so contradicted themselves. The website for the company is generic with no information about open positions. Their social media has no comments. I emailed the email address from the website and never got a response. I commented and messaged their social media’s with no responses. There are basically no comments on their social media posts and no tags from clients or anything to validate this is a real company. When doing a google search there is nothing to validate this company. There is no one on LinkedIn who works for them. Their company name commits copyright infringement. Everything about this screams fraud. Beware.
