I received a letter addressed to my business from the "Filing Labor Compliance Department." The letter looks legitimate and has content in bold that if read quickly, would make someone think that in order for their business to be compliant, they need to pay $94 and mail back to them a check/money order along with some information requesting a business email and phone number. I noticed a few red flags like their email address being a Gmail as well as them saying in the last paragraph of the letter that "You are not required to purchase anything from this company and the company is non-affiliated, endorsed, or approved by any governmental entity." I reached out to a legitimate labor compliance company and they informed me that the letter is a scam, and that unfortunately some business owners have fallen for it like I almost did. They recommend that I report it to the BBB. I hope no one else falls for this. Please do your due diligence and always doublecheck if you're not sure about something.
