I received a call from an individual claiming to be an "IRS audit investigator" September 22nd. They claimed there was an audit done for 4-years and I owed $6750.

During the call:

They ask basic questions and then proceed to get aggressive and claim if you do not cooperate you will be arrested. They read legal jargon and claimed in order to resolve the case, you must pay the balance due before ending call.

Throughout the call if you accuse them of lying, they become aggressive. To add credibility to their information, they list "case" numbers and use your address, name, place of employment and last 4 of SSN.

The place sounds like a telemarketing building.

I have reported to the local press Sept 23rd and submitted report to attorney generals consumer complaint hotline.

Phone number (567) 230-5703 called me threw out the day and then i decided to call back because it seemed important then an Indian man with a strong accent answered but the line seemed to be running data threw it because it was real choppy and hard to understand him then he says hes with the IRS and needs my name so i give him my name then he says [censored] your self j***y and hangs up so i immediately call back and he answers again and says this is a scam u shouldnt be calling then i hang up and seek advice

I was contacted on my phone by a false IRS claiming that I owed the government money due to tax mistakes and threatened to put out an arrest warrant on me. They asked for my SSN, address, DOB. They said I could pay it off through target gift cards and asked for the access and card number. And take your money through the cards

Automatic machine calls and tell us: This is your final notice and IRS is filling a lawsuite against you, please call back this number. Then when I called back to verify if they are fake or real, I find they are fake and they are asking for money, they say: Hi, this is Internal Revenue Service, my name is officer Nancy Jones or other names. Please need to stop this scam. please follow them by there phone number. Thank you.

I have received several calls from this number. Today I received another call and they left the number 646-930-8909, identifying themselves as the IRS, stating I was going to be taken to court for past due payments to the IRS. They requested I return their call as soon as possible. I knew this was a scam, but I called the number to see if anyone would answer. A gentlemen answered the phone who I recognized as a foreigner. When he asked me my first and last name, he realized I was not being truthful. He then told me he hated for people to lie to him and then called me a "Mother Fxxxxx". I hope no one else is taken by this guy. The automatic recording that was left for me was done with a female's voice. I have saved both messages in case they are needed.

5/4/2016 - Today around 1:30 CDT I received a recorded message from what they claimed was the IRS. It threatened a lawsuit being filed and told me to call the following phone number to pay up: 740-275-8534. I know the IRS doesn't call and threaten people over the phone. Received several phone calls from a wireless number (509 area code). They leave a recorded message saying "the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you" and they want a call back. Obviously I didn't call back since the IRS mails information, and the IRS does not call people from their cell phones!

I got a call from a number (646.401.0233) claiming I had to call them ASAP before the IRS began legal recourse to collect money from my tax evasion and fraud. I knew this was not how the IRS communicates with the community. Therefore, I decided to call to see what these bad people would say. An actual person picked up the phone when i called (second indication this was fake) and the person made up some official sounding bureau that does not exist in our government (third indication it was fake), and when I started probing with questions (they hung up the phone). The number, as of two days ago, was not working.

My wife and I have received calls on our land line phone that say, "From the IRS. The reason for this call is that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file please call our department number (509)-872-5507."

I did not and will not call the number. Several years ago I bantered with one of the callers and was cussed at and I laughed at them. I erase all of this junk from my phone recorder. I'm reporting this just as an example of scams against seniors.
