I got an email about a job

“Hello,

I hope you are doing well.

Your profile was recommended to us by a third-party agency, and upon review, I found your experience to be well aligned with an open position of Service Manager with one of our clients. The role requirements closely match your professional background.

To proceed further, please reply to this email with your updated resume attached.I will review your profile and share next steps accordingly”

I sent my resume and then they asked me to use the link below to update my resume to be ATS-friendly and send back to them - https://www.atsrresume.com/. There was a charge of $17 which a paid. I googled the company and the website went live Jan 6, 2026, and no response or updated resume since.

Hello,

Your experience is aligned with the role, but your resume is not ATS-friendly. Kindly adapt your resume to be ATS-friendly as I need it as soon as possible. For creating an ATS friendly resume, please visit https://www.atsrresume.com/ and send me your ats resume once the recommended website has completed it.

For now, precise details about the role and our client are under wraps due to confidentiality protocols. Once we align our schedules, I’ll shed more light on this. I’ll review my calendar and circle back with potential timelines for our continued discussion.

My experience was nearly identical. For an IT manager position for an undisclosed company with no job description. She steered me towards the same resume site. I have friends who have been professional recruiters for years. One of them created a perfectly scannable resume for me. I sent her that. Never heard anything back. Be careful out there. These wretched scam artists are everywhere.

The scammer pretends to be a recruiter with an ambiguous job offer. They then require an 'ATS compatible' resume and redirect to a second website. There is no job. This is an attempt to charge for resume services. The website lists a bogus address in Brooklyn, NY where there is no office. Enclosed is the scammer email.

I was contacted by someone claiming to be “Ashley Morgan, Head of Recruiting” from Hire Talent Nest, regarding a Director of Customer Success position. The email was vague and lacked any company name, role specifics, or location. When I requested additional details and a LinkedIn profile to verify identity, I was told they “can’t provide further details” until I send my resume.

The company domain was registered only recently (April 2025), and Ashley Morgan does not appear to exist on LinkedIn. This closely matches known scam behavior — such as resume harvesting or eventual attempts to charge for resume optimization or ATS formatting.

Why I’m Reporting:

This appears to be a fraudulent recruiting operation using a fake company, a generic job opportunity, and pressure tactics to gather resumes or personal data without transparency.

I did not send my resume, but I want others to be warned about this domain and method.

They scheduled a call with me about a job. I've submitted my resume and they also told me that my resume was not ATS compliant and that I should reach out to Elite Resume Pro to run a free scan. That company looks suspicious too.

- Hixson, TN, USA

Person identifying self as "Sarah Williams" solicited my resume using the following text: "Currently, one of our clients is looking for a Quality Assurance Director to join their team in a recently acquired company, and after looking at your profile, I believe your background would be a perfect fit. Please respond to this email with your resume if you are interested. I would love to speak with you further about this opportunity and provide you with more information about the company after the initial client process." Since this is not uncommonly done by reputable staffing companies I sent my resume in response.

"Sarah Williams" then responded as follows: "Your experience is aligned with the role, but your resume is not ATS-friendly. Kindly adapt your resume to be ATS-friendly as I need it asap. For creating an ATS friendly resume, please visit https://atscompliantresume.com/ and send me your ats resume once the recommended website has completed it."

I checked out the website "she" listed and discovered that they claim to provide what they call an "ATS-friendly" for a $17 fee. Since this is about an order of magnitude lower than most resume review / writing services (usually $150-250), this appeared suspicious. I I investigated further and discovered that not only was this type of situation / scam common, but that all of the players (PE Talent Seel / "Sarah Marshall" / CMS Resumes - the "company that link goes to) had been reported previously.

I called them out on their scam and broke off contact.

Website requires you to spend $17 but I learned this is a scam when I researched the website, the PE talent website, and LinkedIn. The PE talent website status was highlighted as "Suspicious" by McAfee.

I got an email for a job opening with the subject - open position. Upon requesting information they said that they got my resume form a third party service and were reaching out to talk about an opportunity and the Job would be kept confidential till I submitted a Resume from the website and wen i tried getting a resume made ATS frinedly as requested by the person from a different source, they said it was not good enough and it needs to be the website they prescribed. And when I pushed on it, they said that the only way to move forward is thru the website.

- Bay City, MI, USA

“Trina Thornton” reached out from “PE Talent Seek” via email and said she had a role that fit my skill set (SVP role) and to send her my resume to get to next steps with the hiring manager.

I sent resume in ATS formatting and she replied that it was required to be in ATS formatting and to use a specific site and provided a link www.atscompliantresume.com.

There is a fee for that service and likely no job but I’m not clicking the link.

Company address is listed as:

3051 W 21st St

Brooklyn, NY 11224

- Huntington, NY, USA

I had a similar experience as the one posted earlier. A Sarah Williams reached out regarding a position and asked if I was interested. I sent her my resume and she responded that I would be a good fit but that I need my resume to be ATS friendly. She shared a website https://advresats.com and said I need to go their and get my resume ATS formatted. The thing is, my resume is already ATS formatted so that is what triggered my to feel like this was off. It is true though that it is unusual for a recruiter to reach out and not provide any details about a position. I looked up PE Talent Seek and their website definitely looks questionable. All of their images are stock photos. Not sure if the goal of this scam is to get personal info or to put in credit card info to that ATS site. It's also worth noting the site says it will format your resume into ATS for only 15 dollars. Resume configuration is typically way more expensive.

- Hoboken, NJ, USA

A "recruiter" reached out for my resume and then wrote back that it wasn't ATS-friendly (even though it was a PDF) and that I should run it through a website and included the link to the site. Neither the site nor the employer the recruiter claimed to work for seem legitimate.

- Philadelphia, PA, USA

Reached out for a potential job offer and was told that the company hiring was confidential and to send a resume. I sent my resume and was told that the format was not "ATS friendly." the agent gave me a link to get my resume "ATS friendly." I know how to get a resume ATS friendly so I reformatted it and sent it back. I was then told that it has to go through the link she sent me and have to pay the $17.00 to get it formatted. Very fishy!

Stark Executive Search claims to be a recruiting company for companies looking to hire executive positions. They will send you an email claiming that they got saw your resume on LinkedIn and think you'd be great for a position. Prior to having the call, they put your resume through an ATS. from there they claim that they can make your resume stronger so your resume comes up in all the ATS software for a certain price. They take your money and the call never happens. beware
