Employment Solicitation - Phishing Scam Reports & Reviews (276)

It was fake job offer

- Newark, NJ, USA

I was contacted through email and text message about an interview with a company called Solve-NY, there were LinkedIn job descriptions for at least two opportunities at this "company". I did not remember applying to either, but I have filled out so many job applications at this point that I was just excited to have an opportunity for employment.

I attended the first Zoom meeting with a person named Aiden, who had an Australian accent and described his background as in finance. He talked in vague terms about the company for about ten minutes and then the call ended. I was contacted again via text and email setting up an interview for the following morning, and then radio silence. No response to email, text, phone call, nothing.

I'm not sure what the scam is, but the unresponsiveness and inability to be contacted struck me as fraudulent.

This is the message I received:

"Hello, I'm Abigail, a recruiter from Canadian Staffing Consultants Ltd. I got your number from an employment site. Job Bank Canada We have a flexible remote role that might suit you.

May I share more details and salary packages for your review and see if it suits you?"

- Berlin, WI, USA

This was the typical employment scam that contacted me unsolicited.

- Richmond, VA, USA

I was offered a job through Linked In. It sounded too good to be true. Later on, I was contacted per email and then called by someone from the number on the TQ Check website. The person spoke with a heavy foreign accent. I was sent an email with an application form and a request to send a copy of my drivers license, SSN and other personal information to them.

So, I googled the company and found a Reddit post saying that others had been scammed by them.

- Purchase, NY, USA

The initial message after I applied on Indeed (the indeed ad of theirs is no longer there) was this: Hello ******,

This is Mark from Clydesdale Realty LLC. I'm pleased to inform you that we've reviewed your application for the Team Assistant position on Indeed. Your qualifications have impressed us positively.

We'd like to schedule an official interview on Microsoft Teams. If you're still interested, kindly request the interview link.

Thank you for your interest in joining our team.

They then had me do a Text Only one way interview on Microsoft Teams, where I never got many specific information. He had said that the physical location was unmanned at the moment as the whole team was in another country so he said it was a virtual job at the time. 40$/hour and virtual, and I “got the job” the very next day with little information yet again.

I only see that he sends me a proposal by a personal email, on a sunday, and he also asks for my cell phone number to contact me. I am supposed to have it already because I have been applying for a new job for a while now. I can't find any specific information about that company either.

- San Diego, CA, USA

I was contacted by Ben Sutter who claimed to be in there HR dept.

- Bronx, NY, USA

Was offered a job and had a conversation with James McDaniel at 1dropdx.com all verbal through teams. Was asked professional questions related to work experience. Was told they are opening up two offices in my area.

- Bronx, NY, USA

The text offered a job at $35 an hour. Plenty of misspellings. The email had a company on it for a website that doesn’t exist: [email protected], yes plural. The person claimed they were the director of recruiting and asked that I join a teams meeting with a code. The person would be Grayson S. Henderson. I stopped responding after that.

Text message: Hi!! I'm Maggie Cruze, a Recruiter at PeopleReady, a TrueBlue Company. I got your phone number from the company's recruitment database. We have some job opportunities. Can I share some job opening information with you?

- New York, NY, USA

They used an inactive email domain. They wanted to interview me by phone but I performed a google search and on Instagram found two different occupations for same person. They are on LinkedIn as recruiter but Instagram shows them as candle maker? They have no phone contact number only inactive email.

- Brooklyn, NY, USA

Received an email thanking me for applying to a position I did not apply for, after applying for other jobs on indeed. I did not reply.

- Bronx, NY, USA

I received an email from Angela Hamilton about a job opportunity as a Quality Inspector. I've been applying to several jobs recently so it was convincing at first but I couldn't find the job application under "Applied Jobs" on Indeed, even though the phishing email said I applied through Indeed. I only have one account. So that was the first red flag. The second red flag was the personality test. I thought the questions were strange. Asking if I'd be able to visit the post office if needed. They said they were from Verde Fulfillment, so I checked out their website and it seemed pretty legit. What I found interesting was they had a notice on their careers page, saying that there is a Hong Kong based company faking their identity as Verde Fulfillment to steal people's information and money. Once I saw this, this confirmed the email I received was an attempt to steal my info and money. They were pretending to be Angela Hamilton. Always pay attention to what jobs you are applying to, even if it's a lot, try to keep track of them, and always question an email you get when you aren't sure about it.

- New York, NY, USA

The made it seem as if i got hired for a job then after they received my banking information and id they never responded to my emails. On top of that their phone number doesn’t work.
