I attempted to book a stay at a hotel. I thought I was at the hotel site. It wasn't that site, and they got my credit card information, charged my card, then sent me a "confirmation" email with no confirmation number. Then, I saw that they were attempting to charge my credit card for the whole amount, something legit hotel sites don't do. I called the number in the email, and although the automated system recognized my phone number and asked for me to confirm the second date of my stay, they said that they couldn't find my record without giving them even more personal information. I hung up and reported the charge to my credit card company as fraud. The charge was still pending, so I hope it doesn't go through.
