BUYER BEWARE

Purchased "Maggie's Hand-quilted Hippie Weekender Bag" for $59.00 after reading an "article" about her retirement. The bag has been circulating the internet for years and they created a sense of urgency by claiming it was her last batch ever.

ALL of their photos of people are AI, the names used are incredibly generic, and the background of the "sellers/artists" are also AI generated. Their return address is in China despite their claims that "Maggie" is from California. I also received no confirmation email. I disputed the charge with my Bank, but please beware!! This "business" needs to be shut down.

The Craft Folk ad shows up on the Google home page as well as social media sites. It links to an article written for a legit-sounding garden magazine and features a bio and photos of artist Dorothy “Dot” Calloway making garden items in her NC studio. Victims are offered the chance to buy the “hand-crafted” items after reading a heart-warming story and facts about pollinator loss in US gardens. IT’S ALL FAKE! The “journalist,” “artist,” “verified reviews,” and photos are AI generated. I received crappy versions of the product that came from a company in China and I can’t reach a real person to return items. My only option is to ship everything at my expense to a Chinese address.

"STAY AWAY" from Craft Folk: craft-folk dot com/products/marthas-sheep-tote-bag.

Craft Folk is a SCAM business. It doesn't deserve to have even one star. The website tells lies. The item I received is not what was described in terms of quality. Even the bag shape is wrong. Made in the USA? The returned address is in China, however. I'm very disappointed and angry.

I went to purchase a hippie Weekender hand quilted tote bag from a woman in Sausalito California. It's supposed to have 3D flowers on it, and a 3D bumper on both sides of the front of the van and also the back of the van which it doesn't have any 3D stuff anywhere. The inside of the bag is supposed to have floral cloth lining, and it's plastic. The bag is also supposed to come with a duster so that way when the bag is not in use it goes in that special bag to keep it nice as well as a letter of authenticity. The bag is also much smaller than it states. The pictures that I am sending you shows the bag that I did receive, as well as the bag shown on the website.

I ordered a garden wind twirler with Snoopy flying in a WW1 plane that was pictured as being fully bodied airplane and Snoopy. What I received was a tinny metal flat body poorly designed fake piece of China crap. 100% disappointed in this trickery and fake advertising. Looks like something from the dollar store. Plus it doesn’t even spin in the wind.

Completely false advertising - claiming to provide hand-made bee houses made of cedar. Received items were made of bamboo and glued together. Refused to refund unless items were shipped to Hong Kong.

- Newport News, VA, USA • Jun 09, 2026

The company claims to be a retiring artisan from Vermont but it appears the products come from China. There was a long delay in shipping, and I started to read reviews that this is a scam. The website claims to use USPS for shipping but it is a GOFO tracking number out of California. Hong Kong is referenced on their website while American Express references a London location with a PA phone number. If the products are delivered, they are cheap knock offs. The consumer has to pay to return the product to China to get a refund. I've sent an email to [email protected] requesting they cancel the order and American Express will dispute the charge once the 2-week window has expired if the "product" hasn't shipped.

I am writing to express my strong dissatisfaction with a recent purchase. I received 4 Dots Wild Bee Hotels, and unfortunately, they are of terrible quality.

The product has all the failings that the marketing and product descriptions specifically promised would not be an issue. In particular, it promised smooth bamboo nest tubes precisely because rough tubes pierce bees' wings and/or trap them in the tubes like a cruel spiked trap. I have attached photos. It is incredibly frustrating to receive an item that falls so far short of the advertised standards.

I read an article on Google News about Mason bee houses hand made by an old man in the US, who was closing his workshop due to age. The article seemed legit and described in detail how his design was better than what is commercially available. The last few hundred units were available at a reduced price. I looked at their website, which listed other handmade crafts from rural US. I became suspicious when I saw that all the products were produced by elderly people who were going out of business due to age and selling their last batch of products. Checking their contact info shows an address in Hong Kong. Online reviews all indicate that this is a scam site.

Website described items as handmade in North Carolina by a retired man who is really deceased. Items received were shipped from California and not North Carolina nor was it a custom item as described at all. Craft folk falsely advertises these are local artists in NC and advertises Trust Pilot reviews as 4.8. Trust Pilot website lists them as 1.3 and a scam, posting unauthorized and fake reviews. This website needs to be shut down as fake. You cannot post on this site any reviews to warn people. All returns must go back to China.

They describe a product as handmade by an artist in NC then send you an item from Hong Kong.

Thus, anions (negatively charged ions) are larger than the parent molecule or atom, as the excess electron(s) repel each other and add to the physical size of the ion, because its size is determined by its electron cloud.

Saw a YouTube or Facebook ad about a lady who's illness was not allowing her to make the Bee Hotels anymore and she only had a few to offer for sale which were her last ones. The ad talked about the care she took to make sure all the burs left from cutting the bamboo and cleaning out the stops in the bamboo so that the bamboo tubs would not tear the bees wings. So I felt sorry for her for not being able to make these anymore so I purchased 4. They arrived yesterday and they were not as advertised. The ends of the bamboo had jagged edges, some of the bamboo tubes were completely blocked and many of them partially down the bamboo tube.

- Williamsburg, VA, USA • Jun 04, 2026

The items I purchased were listed as Dot's Handmade Bee Blossoms. This is the ad:

Handmade in the Blue Ridge Mountains

64 years old, Weaverville NC — her final collection. Handcrafted on the wheel, like always."Ray told me once: the bees need water, not blossoms. I made blossoms anyway — because both are true."

– Dorothy "Dot" Callaway, Weaverville, NC

The pictures appear to be several inches in diameter but are only one inch.

When I inquired about a refund I was told to contact:

101, 1st Floor, Leituo Technology Second Park, No. 12

Yuandong Road, Jiahe Street, Baiyun District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province

Obviously not in North Carolina

I sent several emails and never received an answer.

Hundreds of people have been taken in by this scam.

- Milwaukee, WI, USA • Jun 03, 2026

I placed an order and did not get what was advertised. This is NOT a handmade bee hotel from a North Carolina artisan who is retiring. This is a complete scam. We were sent a piece of junk that is unfinished, musty, and broken. When contacting the company about returning the product I was told to ship it within 14 days of receipt to HONG KONG. Attached is what was expected, that is not what was received. BEWARE! It sounded amazing, it is not at all as described.

- Douglasville, GA, USA • Jun 02, 2026

SCAM site....send junk....must return to Hong Kong if return accepted....all info false about products....94% customers rate them 1*.....check Trust Pilot......DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM

- Atlanta, GA, USA • May 29, 2026

Similar to many others who were scammed, I also ordered Dot's Handmade Bee Blossoms which were clearly shown on Craft-folk's website to be large ceramic, glossy blossoms that were described as hand made in North Carolina by an older artisan. Instead, I received dull and tiny machine-made resin flowers that were apparently shipped from China - not North Carolina or even London where the service reps reportedly reside. The contact email I used was [email protected] which was listed on the website at the time of my return request. Since my email did not cause a MAILER-DAEMON and my email did not bounce back I assumed it was a legitimate email address. I never heard back from the company and filed a dispute with the credit card I used for the purchase, AMEX - which initially ruled in favor of this company and its return procedures. AMEX has now reopened the dispute case at my request to more thoroughly investigate Craft-Folk as a scam.

- Diamond Bar, CA, USA • May 25, 2026

The site claims the goods are hand made by local artisans. The product was supposed to be tear drop shape and at least 6” deep with refined tubes for bee safety. What was sent was generic unpolished small shallow honeycomb shape bee house that is actually everything that it advertised was BAD for the bees. They offer a 30 day return but turns out consumers have to pay return freight to China and who knows if refund would be issued. It would likely be less than the shipping cost to return. This was an ad that comes up on google.

There are many reviews stating the same experience. It is false advertising- straight up lying about what is being sold.

- Chesapeake, VA, USA • May 22, 2026

I saw an ad for this product through Google advertising. Went to the page about the product, it was a lovely story and the products looked really nice. I bought a set. When I got the products they were nothing like what was advertised, like dollar store versions of the real thing. I was so mad and I knew I had been scammed. When I looked up the company name and "scam" I found out that a lot of people have been duped by this company. I did file a refund request and complaint with paypal regarding my money, but this is really so not cool and I want to make sure it gets reported so they can be stopped. At least this time. And Google is also responsible for not vetting the ads they are showing people better. So sad :(
